Hello guys
Since this thread is about 1JZs in E34s, I hate to open another thread to get flamed about ripping souls out etc. My biggest question is, how costly is it to maintain an E34 with a 1JZ? Compared to say a 2002 Volvo s40, a 2001 E39, a 2001 328i or a W210 E270CDI? Maintenance and toying with modifications is the last thing I want to do. I need something really reliable, but don't point me to a Swift or a Yaris. However with a low budget and safety in mind (and the need for speed), this setup makes the most sense. I like cruising fast, and I hate to do it in say a Toyota (no offense).

Cheers

Can only give you my personal opinion..... There's a reason most outlaws in the middle east or anywhere around the world go around with their machine guns attached to a Toyota Hilux..... reliability. I have yet to see one driving around in a Range Rover, etc..... Always a Toyota.

As for my 1JZ conversion? Reliability? No contest if compared with my old M50 engine. Never uses even a drop of water. No need to top up engine oil. Very little has gone wrong..... My only regret is that I waited so long and wasted so much $$$ before doing the conversion.

I know the purist are not going to be happy but I love driving around in a bimmer..... (I know some would not call it a bimmer after the conversion) at the end of the day as long as you're happy about it, I say go for it!!!

No regrets from me at all.

Dear Sifus. I am having a bit of an issue with my 1JZ-GTE Auto non VVTI from a Soarer. It was all well when suddently one day, it decides not to rev pass 2k Rpm. Any sifus can share some experience with this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe ECU problem. Try swapping another ECU and see if that resolves the problem.

i think the problem is that you're using the original turbo still. After a while, you must upgrade to a bigger turbo, at least GT35R size, along with your injectors and related items. Then install an aftermarket ecu to match the tuning to the hardware, and your car should be able to go from 0 - 200kmh in about 10 seconds. rpm climbing issue wont be a concern as you wont have time to look at the rpm meter when the turbo kicks in!! :)

I would also suggest the same as Bro Seech. Eliminate the problems one by one (if you have the time and parts to spare) IF not then you'll need to find a good mechanic to 'resolve'
the problem(s). Good Luck

Hi bro Seech. Thanks for the input. At first the mechanic says is the ECU. Removed it and changed some of the Caps. Put it back on and car runs fine for about 5 days. Then problem starts again occasionally. Spend 4++ for nothing. Haih....

Hi bro ramsing. Thanks for the input. Before this, the car is running perfectly for almost 3 years without any issues. Only few flat batteries because the Ij's fan runs for so darn long after turning off the engine.

HI Seech...beast is good, after a new block and Single turbo conversion...Waahhhhh but still work in progress slow- slow maaa...

1jayzee and 2jayzee suxz.......dont ever think of using them its crap........choose other engines please.......

You know, saying something suck without your opinion why it...ahhhh forget it. I'm not too cunning enough for such argument.

By the way, any of you guys know a good mechanic for some 1JZ E34 diagnosis? Closer to Cyberjaya the better, hehehe!

Thank you!

2 J overkill bro..this setup is great for this chassis. Yes's let meet up

wah single turbo conversion with 600whp. good job Dom. Must see this monster next time. can i come also for the tt ar?

my friend KWS also just converted his E34 to 2JZ auto. very nice and smooth. quiet too. that day he took me and blackhowling for a short drive. very nice push when kickdown. I think all E34's should have come with this sorta tq from factory.

but blackhowling said the car v slow, coz his orange car 1st gear only can tar-pau until far far away!! no need even put 2nd gear...... :D

HI Bro Ramsing...sure why not, I'll plan a date soon and broadcast...still plenty of work in progress ! But I takut the ORANGE CAR...if 1st gear can tapau..then I have to wave the white flag lor
