hi guys;

i have been having very low water temperature in my car ever since i had it nearly 2 years ago. i think it's too low that it is just above the 'blue zone'.

should i be concerned? what is the normal operating temperature?

Are you sure there is nothing wrong with your gauge? Mine was always just below the half-way mark but since changing to electric fan, its just above the quarter mark. :D

Correct me if i'm wrong....My mech told me b4 that the electric fan can be adjusted for the speed....maybe ur car fan speed is at max.....

yes, my fan only operates at 1 speed, i think the only MAX.

but the gauge is working i think. when stuck in a jam at more than 1 hour, the meter rises to near 1/2 mark.

so what is the problem? is it normal? during normal operating conditions, the meter is just slightly above the BLUE zone

normal ke tidak?

If ur car can can reach 1/2 during the traffic jam....i think its ok....my car at 1/4 when i'm driving....

i think it should be fine..its better than having it in the red zone..i ran my 2002 like yours for almost 2 years & it was fine...

Your meter needs to be recalibrated. In my case, I just removed the temp gauge and pushed the needle a little bit. Alternatively, look into getting a replacement from ebay.

The fan normally have 2 speed following the temp and termostat. If it run only 1 speed it is either too high or too low. Temp low will be the fast fan is running or high will the fast is not running or only slow is running.

pls get the mech to chk if the fan follow the termostat on two speed , this is standard for all cars, old or new.

Mine is exactly at the 1/4 mark. Rises a bit during traffic jams.

No problems so far.

don't think this is a good idea. what have you achieved? perhaps just good feeling!

its not ur thermostat or the fan speed...its related to ur car idling...ur car is running too lean I think.

go for modic check.... for a M40,it shudn't be like this.

It could be the thermostat....

if it's slightly deformed due to age and heat, it will leave a small gap and that made it ineffeciency in controlling the temperature...

when I first had the M42, this was exactly what I experienced. Then change to the 88 degree C thermostat and the temp gauge is pointing north all the time even during traffic jam and track day... There's also a 60 degree C thermostat (which is cheaper) but i opt for the 88 Degree C one...

here's the real funny thing... remember a few weeks ago i had erratic idling problem causing engine to stall. well, i had it fixed by a new TPS. it idles steadily even when i got stuck in a jam for over 1 hour.

but now,

the water temperature rises quickly to alightly over 1/2 mark in traffic jam (appears normal) but then drops rather quicvkly to slightly below quarter mark when car is moving. this has never happened before!

any theories to explain this? are your cars (e30m40) like that? should i be concerned?

while i am happy with the idle, i also feel that the gas pedal feels different now when accelerating. it feels 'harder' (i have to press the pedal harder) to go higher revv. why?

your accelerator cable needs to be adjusted for more slack.....
other then that, it is probably going to snap........
