can any beemerians share some idea why in general 3 series are more popular that the other bigger bro's in the beemer family? is it because of how they market it,. or because of its shorter wheel base that makes it fun to drive?Cheers!E30 enthusiast :eek:k:

The 3 series has historically been the bread winner for the BMW range. It began with the E21 and it was the beginning of what BMW calls 'compact sports coupe' and was later evolved to 'compact sports sedan' with the introduction of the E30. The commercial success of the E30 is what put BMW on the map amongst premuim automobile manufacturers.

The recipe of great dynamics and the signature in-line six continue today with the E90.

To answer your question, the 3-series seems more popular as most consumers that are attracted to the BMW becos of it.

Yup Kevster,.. ITS AN E30!!!!
the thing that triggers me about the E30 was its inline sixers... not only that, its short wheel base and rear wheel drive couple with a 50:50 weight distribution plus its rigid chassis makes me orgasm man...
don't know much about its new E90 specs, i actually quite not like its look... particularly the view from the rear. kind of a bit ciput and a plasticky look on the rear lights....

not only its handling, i think it looks also play an important role... to me the E30 design is timeless...

correct... E30 is timeless

wanna look classic? keep the chrome on the car, paint with classic colours, ie Light Blue, Green etc etc

wanna look modern? Remove chrome, body kits, paint with modern colours such as gray, dark blue, etc etc

so many face for 1 car

ps...personally i'll go for the classic look.... ;)

not to mention e36 with its 'sporty' look even on stock (just fit in bigger rim and lower setting) ....just my 2kupang ;)

E30 6 pot sucks......
sell off yours la.....so others can claim to have the most modded/suckest E30. ;)

As quoted by Mr vinceLiew " ...the e30 design is timeless", i have to second that motion. People think I might be crazy but I just sold off my previous e30 to buy another e30. Yup,everyone thought I was out of my mind but not me. Once an e30,always an e30. No offense to anyone but whenever I see an e30 for sale,i just wonder why the owners are selling them.

It's a gem of a piece of automobile, and it will be for many years to come.

On a general note, the 3er is more appealing to the general public compared to other models. It is the benchmark as to where other compact sports sedans stand. right from the e21 to the e90,kudos to BMW for producing something that's universally appealing.

Try driving all the 3 series with a good whack heheheheh then u'll know which is the best. Personally i like E36 chassis with 6 pot

for daily driving, e36 and e46 would be my prefered choice. Better NVH with the modern technologies. Comfortable.

for exictment driving, i take the e30 anytime.

As a close friend put it, the e30 is a MACHINE. Others is just a CAR.

See how much weight and bulk the 3 series has gained over the years. To me, the e90 looks a lot bulkier.

Even with the weight saving aluminium and other materials, the e90 is about 1000lbs heavier than the e21. Of course, the engine has progressed significantly.

Personally, I would not mind having the suspension and engine of the e90 in the e21 body.

well said.....

cheers to Buddy! :eek:k:

i've driven the E36 4door and the E36ci.. there's differences... the 4doors body is not as rigid as the 2doors... it chassis tend to flex more than the 2doors when push hard... but the E46's don't have it anymore.. love the steptronics... :eek:k:

those days they call em "the ultimate driving machine" its a driver's car, thats why all the controls and gadgets is facing the driver, it was tune for maximum performance. Now they call it "sheer driving pleasure", its tune for comfort and leisure performance... but not all models are being such..

coolest guys! so take good care of our rides for many years to come!! :D
