u want looks then now power. why not the other way round first.....1.8 with 17 in tyres will be lunch for kancils even.

If power is what u want, JPJ also can kautim one.

I recommend S50 route but then also I also a BMW V8 implant......so u can try. YES, I always advise ppl to stick to BMW engines.

I would echo similar sentiment to what OSflanker has mentioned. Bottom line is your budget. If low budget go for the M20B25 conversion, its pretty straight forward otherwise go for the M50 conversion!! And don't forget to upgrade your suspension and brakes as well! Safety is more important than anything else!

The M42B18 1.8 16V DOHC engine is a pretty good engine in my opinion. It has more mod potential compared to the later M44B19 1.9 16V DOHC...

If you choose to take the M42 don't have to worry much about JPJ cos same cc.. Also can use back your M40 gearbox.

btw, go back to 15". E30 was not engineered to work with rims bigger than 16"
. With the 15", you get the best balance of ride, handling and comfort.

Jules, haha stick to BMW engines is good i also prefer like that ,M3 is my dream!! S14 or S50 also not bad. but some of japanese i saw b4 damn powerful like SR20,1JZ or S2000. SR20 half cut without installation around 4.5k to 5.5k, M42 & M50 plus installation is around 6k to 7.5k....
