E30 320 versions and facelift differences

i would like to get a E30 for "classic car" restoration. i'm more experience in e34 matters. some questions that i have after some research.1. differences between early 1983 and post-1987 cars in malaysia market?2. what year did E30 has galvanised body panels?3. which one doesn't have spare wheel "seen" from behind?4. which one has the side indicators in fenders?5. which is better 2 door or 4 door versions?6. will the bumpers (both front and back) interchange with all the model years - related to question (3)?

Hi there...

My very brief answer to your question...

1. 83 to 87, body non galvanised and only 320i and above. 87 to 92, galvanised body and 318i is available.
2. 87 and later.
3. The latter.
4. Not sure but i think both don have it on fenders.
5. Read a review about E30, 4 dr or 2 dr handles pretty much the same. Your preference of look and practicality.
6. Should be yes.


Very brief of what i know about e30 after owning it for 2 years now...Good luck. Its really a fun car

till 88, steel bumper and after that plastic bumper.

this combo you are asking for would be the very rare year....1987...
some cars had the galvanised chasis before the changeover to plastic bumpers and large rear tailights

mine 1987 model with galvanised chasis and steel bumpers and small tailights.
but japanesed recon model with original brown window tint.
model 1987 but registered in malaysia on 92.

been trying to spot the difference btw the pre and facelifted... notice the tail lights and plate holder r different...

bodykits for the facelifted e30 will fits the pre facelift???
