Its my humble pardon for replying in some threads in a frustrated manner due to the spec made available to the awesomely designed F30 by the respectable Germans!Its(3series) arrived at an epitome of design excellence after decades of evolution! But the so called LOCAL importers/spec confirmation parties r screwing around with how a BMW is intended to be customized with the extensive availabity of ALL its optional equiptments!LAUNCH IT-Make all of it available! This is NOT kereta tin,or tiga suku spec car brand!Relevant parties do something PROPER!!

You do not stand alone in your thoughts. I believe there are others that share your sentiments, and besides, no apologies are required as this is an open and independent forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion...

you can always request a special order though. some guy did it with his 535i m-sport touring. but it's gonna cost you.

Nessman,

Those that are familiar with malaysia's restrictive and archaic auto policy will know why there are no mass manufacturers that do customisation locally.

This is due to kastam's docket price policy. Now imagine (let's say there are 200 owners) individually specifying their cars,
would the kastam dept approved 200 different docket prices??

As for under/over specced, it's depends on what benchmark one is using. What is yours??

In my opinion, the cars launched are reasonably specced in accordance to the needs of the local market. Let's take the 328 as an example, it's selling for slightly lesser than 310k. It would be nice to have HUD, 16 speakers Harman Kardon
sound system and variable sport steering but how much would that add to the selling price? HUD alone costs 15k!! Would one be willing to pay say 350k for a 328i? Or 300k for a 320d/320i??

BMW would be pricing themselves out of the market!! There is a reason why the cars are specced in such a way and it's an open secret that it all ties back to the price points for specific models. Want to make a guess which model of the E90 sold the most? M3? 335? 325sport? Or 320i?

Don't blame BMW or as a matter of fact other premium brands like Audi and Merc which are also practising similar policy. Its our government's policies to be blamed! Like everyone else I also want to spec my car to my taste and pay lesser for cars, but before we can have that the government needs to change its policies OR we change the government :)

Cheers

The rims look bad. Signal lights on 328 is a bulb. However, I must admit theylook like a mini F10. Performance looks awesome for the price and you do have extras such as the adaptive style suspension. As much as some may gripe about cars with tons of options but its messy to manage if you want easy sales.

My concern is when the 328 F10 enters the secondary market then cars like the E90 325 will suffer la.

Wah.. have u all test drive the car yet? I tested both luxury and sport model today.. can Bundy share with us your thoughts ? about this new model whether it lives up the UDM expectation.. :4:

Have not driven the car any faster than 10km/hr yet. Perhaps will get a good chance to evaluate the car when I am at the Changi Drift Park soon. Anyhow, given this new car has a longer wheelbase and wider track width it should be able to handle sweepers with ease. It will be a question of whether the car is still nimble enough with the gain in size.

As for looks I thought the f30 looks much more better both external and internal. Instrument cluster is more interesting and dashboard is driver oriented (wish it's more than 7 degrees) and the iDrive screen is a big improvement.

Met the F30 in the flesh at the launch in AB Penang. Sat inside the 328i Sports line and 1st thing I didnt like about it is the steering wheel, 2nd is the stance - nice button layout and more functions but I still prefer my beefier M-Sport steering and lowered M-Sport looks of the car. Noticed also tht the doors seem lighter compared to the E90, weight saving materials perhaps but its just missing the 'feel' that i'm used to. The rest of the car seem nice & fresh but the garang look just isnt there for me. Was also informed that the SKD would be better specced than the CBU models. Will find out in a few months time.

- Just my dua sen:smokin:

When I was at AB's test drive session in Ara Damansara, I was allocated the luxury range and it comes with a total cultural shock. I was very confused and never expected a 3 series would be so luxury and comfy, with overly sophisticated dash design with all kinds of bells and whistles.. It's a clear distraction to the driver. Rear passenger room was huge with very vertical rear back rest.

I was looking for buttons and dials to stiffen the overly soft/comfy suspension and light steering, but disappointed. Nope.. This is not my prefered range..

For a simple motor head like me who just wanted a car with a balance chassis and great driving dynamics, this F30 luxury is indeed a handful for me and my wallet to handle.. I think it's over specced, as far as a 3-series is concerned.. Which supposed to be a compact executive sedan that's not suppose to be bigger than a Camry or E39.

The much anticipated test drive session organized by Harve Singh also a disappointed one. Drinks were only served to the waiting registered guests minutes before they open the curtain into the F30 preview lounge. They invited the lovely Fay Hokulani dress up in bright red satin dress but the she was reading from script with little eye contact with the crowd.

My test drive session was short. From the Sime Darby Oasis Gallery to make u-trun at Federal Highway, then into Glenmarie to change driver. From Genmarie back to Ara Damansara junction u-turn back to SIme Darby Gallery. The Smart Tag in the was just for decoration only.

With huge disappointment and an empty stomach, I head down to Ingress..

Yes don't fault BMW. Inevitably it all goes back to the NAP and all those xxP. G needs to change or be changed.

Sorry to digress a bit, what surprises me is the dimension, it has grown. F30 length is 15cm shorter than E39, wheelbase just 2cm shorter than E39, width 1cm wider than E39.

It beats the E34 in width and wheelbase, except for length which is 10cm shorter.

Actually i was indeed impressed with tiniest proportion with the Luxury line 328i...interior was classy, trim was captivating but soon enough spoilt by the fact of inavailability of Harman Audio, nor HUD...rest was ok!

Fully agree with CAHNGE in the policy n the ones setting it!n also agree that specs need to cater to the price bracket for the market...from my obeservation i'd say the most selling e90 is 325sport ??maybe u know the statistics...
