Just my 2 cents.Given the size of the convoy, handling 50 over cars is an enormous task and we could be causing congestion on the highway as well. I would suggest for future drives (if it is too late to be implemented now), all cars to meet at specific points A (start)--->B(midpoint)--->C(Final Destination) and during the drive it will not be a convoy but rather, everyone should drive at their own pace with no pressure to keep up with the faster cars. All that is needed is to let everyone know the meeting points, perhaps some printed map on google maps, or everyone just key in the GPS points on their GPS device or smartphone.Cheers

AlBundy,

Thanks for your suggestions. CM is covering all possibilites to ensure this Official drive will be a smooth discipline and well controlled dirve.

Cheers

too many smart fellers there days .... and indeed it's getting complicated ...

even the ///M FEST drive was organized pretty well and we should see the way they handle us till the top of the hill ..hat off to the orginizers

I would say we had approximately the same amount of cars that day with only ONE lead car which was Vixx and only 5 marshall cars and NO sweeper.
We had absolutely no issue and no problems with any of the participant. Only one minor breakdown which affected one of our marshall car (the big ballz car). Even with that I think we had a very disiplined drivers.

Slyder going to Genting is a one way street with no traffic lights and junctions ...it's a different situation all together...we wil be passing through towns and traffic lights and there is no way 50 cars can pass through at one go...u see the picture...so there will be a lot of lost sheeps and waiting here and there and causing inconvenience to other road users.

John for those "fast" drivers that arrive at meet up point earlier, we have time to open our bonnets to allow our engines to de- strees while the drivers TCSS n find a place for teh tarik.

Also remember d mother with her 6 month old baby n our ex-treasurer in our convoys who have never got lost or felt that our drives are dangerous and u turn home driving their non M "underpowered" 4 potters :)

..if you think that 195-210km/h at some spots after tunnel (Genting), is not dangerous, then I do apologize for my false informations..and if mother with 6 month old baby doing such thing I mentioned, then i have no words to say a thing..

I hate slow convoys and driving slow for me is far more dangerous as it invites boredom and sleepiness. I'm not fast by any means but i do enjoy spirited drive whether in convoys or in groups. We are all adults and we do not need to be told how to drive i'm sure all of us will abide the rules that are sensible and practical for everyone.

Just my opinion.

:listen:Since when have anyone mention about doing 195 - 210km/h after the Genting tunnel? If the car in front is really at that speed and I know that I my car or I am not capable or my balls are not big enough, I am not that stupid to try to follow (or for anyone else in their right frame of mind) I would just back off and drive at my own pace.

Not offense meant but for someone who is hell bent on doing 110km/h on the overtaking lane in a nice straight closed expressway, thinking he has the right of way, refusing to move to the left, trying to prevent all other drivers from breaking the law, would this person try to follow ~ definately not, so where is the problem? I rest my case :ciao:

I have a potong saga I wish it can change into a Z4M for Christmas hehe
Hope kwailo father Kristmas will exchange with me haha

Lamoo,

Instead of Z4M, father X'mas knows you are a Malaysian visiting kwailo land.....so he will give you only durian, duku langsat and rambutan.

Happy holidays.....

Have to agree with every word spoken by bundy.. I‘m one that hate to convoy like Merdeka parade as Mizhan put it, not to mention it‘s dangerous too if all follow too close thinking to avoid other non convoy car to slot in.

Getting lost shouldn't be an excuse that “force“ to drive beyond one‘s limit. Going to unfamiliar places, a GPS is a must which is commonly available in all smart phones and there‘s more than ample time to study and get a map handy. Also there‘s phone contact for the convoy marshall who is just one call away. How can end up lost or u-turn balik?

And this is a BMW cars road trip and perhaps decarbonization opportunity for some. The driver must enjoy, the car must enjoy. Fast doesn't mean dangerous. Danger only comes in when driving beyond car or driver‘s limit.

The main point here is drive at your own pace, understand your car‘s limit. There will be those who‘s comfort speed is 80kph. How? and there always a sweeper behind.. how to get lost? and getting lost is not that scary. My philosophy is every wrong turn is a beginning of new adventure.. :4:

Herd Mentality in convoy is dangerous...

As an adult, one is able to decide and make necessary preparation to participate in a convoy to a destination.

All club's sanction drive have a designated sweeper who drive at the pace of the slowest car and make sure all reach the destination.

This is not my 2 cents but fact. the drive was organized and marshalled very well until we reached the bentong rest point and after that, we were "marshalled or led" by a police outrider. I'm not sure if he was advised on the number of cars behind or the speed we had to travel at the back. there were a few chaos here and there and some of us got lost in Raub too.Going through towns is not easy if you only rely on the lead marshalling infront at his own speed. There were calls on the walkie asking me/us to beat the red light and the moment the lead was nowhere to be seen, other cars at the traffic lights started squeezing in. I hope this could be rectified in future where there should be a regroup at any open road after passing through towns. Another thing is that please have the marshalls appointed still sweep and organize the convoy even if we have police outriders infront. Apart from that, I really enjoyed the whole trip...cheers.

P/s Hon...that was PD bro..the 6 mth baby..I remember cos she was behind me...respect....

All I can say was the police did a shit job as compared to the Temerloh Drive...the first outrider was going and going and not in contact with his partner behind on wht is happening and at traffic lights they were not stopping traffic, as I was the first car and leading abt 20 cars I couldn't stop and had to follow the pace of the outrider, at one point I even had to flash to slow down the cop and also to stop him to wait for the rest but then it was too late, the convoy was already broken and the group behind was too far for us to wait and we were causing inconvenience to other users . I was in contact with President most of the time over the phone as they were out from the Walkie range, and his suggestion was not to wait and lead the cars that were behind me and follow the cop while he settled things behind. In future if cops don't stop traffic at traffic lights then I suppose our own Marshall's should do it, I think this was done by QD...it may not be right but what the heck...as johnj said even with outriders the Marshall's and sweeper should continue doing the job...thats if the cops are doing a shit job.

What's the point of posting in threads if posts are deleted? My first time clicking on this thread and I see quotes that have no originating posts. god knows how many posts were removed. I take it then we all are immature ppl who can't handle reading all postings?

I remember the older drives when I used to join were broken into groups. The slow cars left first. And faster cars leave later to play catch up. And bundy always left last so he could ghee everyone from behind as he zoomed past :)

Ramsing, chill bro.

Different strokes for different folks.

Convoy is a hot topic recently, with many roadusers complained about lead cars/bikes behaving like hooligans and also causing unnecessary traffic congestion on the highway.

From my own personal experience, having done so many convoys in the last 6-7 years once the group is too big then it is better to have a "loose convoy" if I can term it that way. Firstly, we do not have experienced and trained Lead drivers, sweepers and marshalls. Secondly, not everyone is comfortable driving fast and if everyone adheres to the 110-120km/hr speed limit then what's the point of a Monthly Drive, especially for the "enthusiasts" that may want to decarbonise their engines :).

Also, when the convoy reaches any traffic light chances are the convoy will be split and like what XXX shared, some will try to go past even with the traffic lights turned red.

Therefore, if the group is too big I suggest to have a "loose convoy". Take off with your buddies, drive at a pace that you are comfortable with and meet at the next RV point within a specific time. Those that want a leisurely drive, will also know they wont be left out and pressured to drive faster than they normally do. This will also take a lot of pressure off the drive orgynisers.

Cheers
