Hi guys, I'm quite new here. Considering buying E46 318i but still a lot of question to ask all the oldtimers here. My question...1. Which engine is better? in term of easy maintenance and better performance... some says 1.9 is a robust engine and the maintenance much more like japanese cars. But, i would prefer the new facelift which is comes with 2.0 engine.2. What is the common problem for 1.9 and 2.0 engine?3. Overall which one better?That's all for now.... will be back with more questions.... hehehe....

As for your question, in terms of easy maintenance, the M43B19 1.9L engine would be the easier to maintain.
Performance wise, the 2.0 is better by about 20bhp..
As for common problem, I'll let the E46 owners answer.. U can also start by searching in the forum..
