Ceramic Coating

I have personally tried PPS, Optimum, Gzox, C-Quartz and currently trying out the offering from Carzmo and from these experience I can derive these few very important conclusions:

1) The coating is only as good as the owner.
2) Remove immediately bird droppings, tree saps, aircon outlet water and etc.
3) Wash the car WEEKLY. Maximum interval is probably 1.5 weeks

If you fail to do any of the above, the car will stain and it will have water marks. If you're diligent about the above, most coatings will last.

I have tried coating on Black, White (2x), Orange Metallic and Blue Metallic car.

Another downside of coating is the lack of proper treatment for interior as it seems most coating company does not offer much in terms of actual interior protection. Car owners will need to diligently clean and condition the interior. For this I use a combo of Swissvax and Zymol. Trying out Sonax now.

As a parting thought, I have 2 other cars which is not on coating and been using Swissvax for the last 3 years which I'm pretty happy with except for the effort. Therefore if asked about coating, my feedback is generally so-so but I'm still hoping to find that ONE perfect coating company.

Hi Lucas 271,

Sorry for the late reply as I have been busy. Ceramic Pro coated my car in January if memory serves me right. Car is always parked in the house porch with only the rear end of the car will be expose to rain and sunshine. I usually do not wipe the car dry after every rain as I personally do not have time and I believe you should not be a slave to the car.

So, if water marks were to appear, it should at be at the back of the car. I took it for wash on Saturday and inspected the boot. No water marks so far. Very slight swirl marks that I believe were caused by the cloth these car washers use. These can be fixed easily by the Ceramic Pro guys. Might swing by to get them to fix it when I am nearer to Chinese New Year next year.

Coating is good as I hardly wash it. at the very most, get my maid to wipe it when she is free. I only wash my car only when it's dirty. I hope these information helps you.

Cheers for now. Another day another shine!

ok thanks for the update bro.
may I know how much u paid for the coating pls?
How many years the coating can last according to vendor?

tks

Hi Lucas...
I took the silver package. Information you seek should be available in my previous post in this thread. I am not sure if price has been revised with the current GST. You need to get in touch with them.

may i know what your perfect coating company is... :)

According to them - wash your car frequently (min 1 a week) and dry your car if sprayed with pipe water.
Pretty much be a slave type maintenance to your car :)
I rather re-spray my whole car with a little bit top up on the cost of coating.

Keep us posted bro... really wonder can such coating last up to few years as they claimed - no water mark!

As I mentioned...so far I might be lucky coz I leave the sun to dry up any rain water. So far no marks. Perhaps mine is white so might not be so obvious or difficult to be seen.

My F10 is black color so it's very obvious to be seen the water mark if not properly taken care.

The other alternative but more expensive alternative...Send it for clear plastic wrap.

Too be honest it's just a Bimmer only...not worth the effort :)

i took the plunge to try ceramic coating so i sent in my car last sunday. if it helps me easily clean some tar spots, bird droppings etc then it's good enough for me. :D i'm the kind of guy who never sent my car to a car wash and i don't wash my car frequently (ie. only when necessary).

I'm happy with ceramic coating so far. I wash my car once a week or longest around once every two weeks. Never sent to commercial car washes. After washing, I dry it with bosch blow dryer and wipe off any excess moisture. Call me lazy but this way it's faster, and can prevent swirl marks.

I'm also happy to note that the coating doesn't leave watermarks like some other coatings except that stone chips are still unavoidable despite their claim of more than 9h hardness. Other than that, I would say best coating solutions I've used so far

I'm still doing research on this so-called coating - be it glass or ceramic coating. It seems that ceramic coating is raved by those who have applied on their cars in this forum.
But one thing I know is that no matter what kind of coating you've done, stone chips are unavoidable so paint protection film is a must.

Glad all are having a good experience with the ceramic pro coating.

Kuntakinte.... the stone chip prevention I guess is only available with the platinum package.

i tried to reduce stone chip by... increasing the gap between my car and the car before me. :D ohh am i talking crap...

reduce is the key word but prevention is unlikely with the method that you speak off.

No consistent way you can reduce stone chips. It's a BMW. And with that much torque, it's meant to be driven swiftly but safely, of course.

Just accept it as a trade off for driving pleasure and make the budget for a respray of the bonnet and or bumper every 2-3 years

Bro kuntakinte,
For your so-called "driving pleasure", one year and I bet that you already tak tahan tengok chips on your front bumper (and bonnet too)... Believe me, I re-sprayed my E60 bumper almost once a year due to the chips

That's because u cucuk too many cars bro thule...I bet the stone chips will be even more this time round with your 997 as the type of cars that will be cucuk-ed now are those with bigger (width) rear tyres :D

Once had this brand new white F30 tailgating me at penchala link, felt sorry for the fella after I half throttle, the 'nasty' combination of torque and 10.5" wheels sent out deadly stone chips some all the way to his windscreen :(

Back to the topic, imo this ceramic coating is one of the best coatings around...but for me for now I would spend the money on a nice new wrap on the car, probably matte grey or chrome red...

Bro silverbullet,
Au contraire.. I seldom cucuk other cars unless those who are guai lan. Last time my E60 was on Glasurit paint which was purportedly provide better protection against stone chip but place where I worked had too many lorry (quarry, mining, timber, etc) so it was futile.
Now with this 997, I lagi seldom cucuk car. Partly because the home minister next to me buat bising every time I speed and secondly my 2 little brats safety are my priority. Now in the process of joining Porsche Club Malaysia and possibly some other fraternities too...
I also had given a thought on car wraps but that would be few years from now.
