My dad's boss has a bullet proof W126 500SE that needs to be done up.The glass is starting to frost and the body needs reinforcing after years and years of good service. Curious if anyone knows where to get this done. Price is not an issue. Well... not much of an issue. Keeping cost down would be great. Last resort would be to go back to Mercedes.Ok... I know it aint no Bimmer, but you guys have heads full of info right? :D Help a brother out.

Paint-job - go to Progarage - get them to do the stripdown and painting. While u r at it change all rubbers, door, window, windscreen (front n rear), If money is no object, change the chrome grille and other bits, door handle, etc. If leather seats are ok, then just have them professionally cleaned. Change windscreen if necessary.

Mechanically, change all rubber bushings and if it does not have hydro-pneumatic suspension option, get lowering springs - H&R if possible.

What size rims are u using - standard 15"? 18" should be the max that u go, otherwise it would look too weird and will become undrivable.

Strengthening chassis can be done via injecting PU foam into the hollow chassis. Just make sure it is PU that is a high density type. AutoFoam, Bellco etc.

I was at Naza's Automall in PJ on sunday and there was a Merc, can't remember if it was an E or S class, bulletproof one,for sale.

Maybe those guys at Naza can shed some light on where you can get it done.

Cheers.

ichiwan2, thanks. What about the bullet proof bits? Windscreen etc. If I'm not mistaken (will have to confirm this) the body is bullet proofed as well.

Car is standard as they come.

Just got some info that bullet proofing are usually done by car makers themselves and need special permits.

Are there no third parties who deal in this? Like I said, last resort would be straight to Merc, but trying to source out other alternatives. Special permits all in order.

Anybody knows anyone specialising in this area?

For the windscreen and windows, get them replaced with regular Merc glass, then send it to Llumar in Bangsar (opposite Mobil). They have bulletproof lamination film there, cost-wise, talk to them.
Better still, talk to Llumar 1st, then decide if that is the course u wanna take. Ask for Chris.
