Just spent the whole of this morning detailing my car, started with normal car wash, dry, interior leather buffing, Wood panels application with veneer protection. And a coat of Polish exteriorly. All chromes been polished with chrome polisher and finally, the tires were touched up with a coat of tyre protection. Here are some pictures to share.

Excellent decision swapping the original radiator grille back on and choice of bird's eye maple. The steering wheel's a great update too. Gotta do something about the grubby interior carpets and trim though...

My mechanic had a car like this, and I drove it around for like a month. I remember it had the full works, electric REAR seats adjustments, electric window blinds all round and other goodies. Man, the thing could just glide over humps without feeling a thing. aaaah.....I remember he had a 560SEL which he didn't want to lend me. Thinking back, might have been a good idea otherwise I would be doing burn outs everyday. hehehe

nice car ck318ci..... btw you can fit 5 girls in the back, 6 if they're on the smaller side. don't ask me how I know.....

I am still working on the car and making it better. Is definitely a long way to go to be a mint W126.

Couple of updates since then

I managed to get a centre console roller box from a 560SEL from Ebay, Paid USD100 including shipping. Had it changed to bird eys's as well to match the other veneer.

Original W126 AMG meter clusters off Japan half cut.

Note: Previous owner inscription on the dial: TSAO.L.
300 KPH!

Perhaps it belongs to a chinese from a HK's car.

Bought this yesterday from Brother's.

Last 2 piece. One more left, be quick if any wants this as Manufacturer stop producing it 3 years ago and it took me a lot of effort to find this.

That's it for now.

Once all this is done.
The car will be sent for a total respray as the paint work is getting annoying.
Alloy wheels refurbishment.

I like to keep the car black and might opt for Obsidian Black all the way with Glasurit.
The other option is Teanorite Grey

What do you guys think of Black face AMG with Polished lips or Hyper Silver to have a chrome/shinning effect.

The dashboard trim been resprayed and actually looks far better since I got it.
The mats are aftermarket but I just placed an order for Brand New smooth velour mats ( original with metal plates)
The carpets are not up to standard but will do it all at once when is going for the interior cleaning. Definitely needs shampooing to make it new and supple.

Wow. sounds like a good SEL version! Sun shades are really rare on the W126. Never seen one on the road here in Malaysia. 560SEL? Possible in Malaysia? the road tax should have killed the person per anum. 5.6 Litre V8!

I just gone berserk and bagged myself a W140 S320L 95. Dropped 19 Inch Lorinser 2 piece polished wheels. At the moment, it is in Subang to put on the WALD kit! making it a one of a kind WALD W140. will end up looking like this

W126 was my 1st choice before i got the E34.. but after seeing 6 beat up ones and 1 ridiculously priced 'ok-ok' one.. i gave up

Is a shame to see these cars selling dirt cheap. Is definitely a lot of fun doing this car up and a lot more different from other Mercs of the same era.

I got mine sub 20k but with the money and effort thrown in, is approaching 30 and is still going. Tried to advertise on mudah to test the water and got random phone calls to pay me 10-15k for it!

It will be over my dead body to let go at 15. There are however a lot of beat up one for sale. Seen one with sunroof for RM7K! But need to do everything from exterior, interior, engine, brakes, undercarriage. u name it. big project

So, is really your car to get one at a reasonable price or a cheap one to do it up. There will not be a cheap clean sample around.

Holy Black Merc Batman, that's one sweet W140. They're very affordable these days, but the maintenance is as per when its new how's the interior condition? are you gonna do the full works? if you ask me, the W140 is a real VIP car if slammed on bling rims, full black gloss, black tint with a simple bodykit. can't wait to see the actual pics of your beast. how much did you get it for, if you don't mind posting. are you going to do it black?

The 560SEL was a dream, but the roadtax was a killer. something like 15k?and the 300SEL you could actually get the rear seats to recline and the bottom part to move forward. sorta like a lazy chair. hehee. was fun.

I'll definetely take you up on the offer to see how many ladies we can fit in your back seat. The W140 would be a very good base to start with :listen::wink:

I did have a pretty ambitious idea on the W140. I was lucky to source a set of Original WALD V4 kit from a chop shop in Banting for a good price. Sent the car for a few mechanical repair and the bill is not that scary.I did a full service with all fluid drained and change, from a reputable Merc specialist in KL for RM700, that also include fixing a power window regulator and painting the valve cover.

Then I put on a set of 19 inch Lorinser RSK3 with Falken tires around RM4500. Noticed it vibrates badly on 80kph, despite balancing and alingment. Sent the car to another Merc( Shouldnt have done so) and changed to long shaft coupling, gearbox mounting for RM400. The culprit is due to poor tires. Will need changing once the Bodykit is fitted as I need to access the car and see whether it needs fatter one.

Had some problem with idling and detected was the O2 sensor, throttle body valve was giving the problem, serviced the throttle body - RM150, 02 sensor- RM200, change of air fliter hose cover( was leaking) - RM250.

So far mechanically wise is all ok. two more things on the list for repair. rear power window regulator and rear sunshade. Shouldnt be costly otherwise.

I intend to put BMW M series Carbon Black on the car as the interior is Mushroom/ Walnut. Walnut steering wheels too. Thought of changing the wood to ASH like BMW 7 F02 or Piano Black, contacted a person who can do that. I am going to get the original WALD sticker pack and paste it on the corner of the wood prior to applying the clear coat. Giving it a personal touch.

The interior definitely will needs a good clean up, the rear seats are good but the front seats has some minor fine cracks at the base. Contemplating to get a set of S600 Nappa leather in but is proven too difficult to find in the colour I want. Did saw a set of Black one for 20,000 yen, 4 door cards off the same donor car for another 20,000. Total would be RM1500, but will be difficult as the rest of the interior trim is off mushroom. So still searching.

Price, I got it pretty good. for 94/95. I am way below market value and despite all the repairs, bodykit and wheels. My total is on par on what people is asking for a basic 94 S320L.

Finally, a retrofit sunshade on the car.
a bit short on the top but is still good. Love the mechanism.

after 3 months of restoration..

The WALD project of W140 finally is closing to its final chapter.

The bodykit is done, and nice Glasurit Carbon Plack coachwork been put on!

Interior will need total revamp but will need to wait a couple more weeks first.
