Define 'cheap'.
I meant the service center. Always thought SA meant Service Adviser :)

Cheap means you won't say "WTF?? You gotta be kidding!" :4: SA = Sales Advisor, SC = Service Consultant

Do you know which engine they putting into this local version? If its the boring basic previous gen engine...habis la.... kalu diesel and DSG....diff story mate.....

i was told they are taking it from the Audi parts bin, the one Audi A4 1.8T is using now.
hmmm...

As stated initially on the starting of this thread, I've sent my car for servicing under my own cost although it is still under BSRI. What to do, their oil change interval very optimistic and I rather follow the old school guideline :)

As I told the SC that my warranty is expiring, I've asked him to perform inspection all round the car to ensure no severe wear n tear and also possible faults. They performed the so called CNY 20 point inspection and my car came out OK. So, no last minute parts replacement. But my steering wheel's soft plastic begin to experience peeling... Mmmm.. wonder why he didn't recommend/advise me on that. As right now, I'm under the mercy of the "Good-will" warranty period, I just hope everything is OK. Have anyone claim warranty on steering wheel skin peeling and especially during "Good-will" warranty period?

One more thing i noticed about Ingress (yup, the SC i went to), they used Petronas Syntium 5W-30 full synthetic engine oil instead of Castrol's equivalent (there goes my Castrol Edge sitting @ home for engine top-up purposes). Why is that so? I thought all SC supposed to use Castrol oil as it is recommended on the engine oil cover? Strange.

Nevertheless, overall, friendly experience at the SC but I can't help but feel that the SA not doing everything in his power to assist me. Or perhaps... I not friend enough with him yet :p

There's no reason why you can't use your Castrol Edge to top up. I had to top up 1 litre recently, and as I had about 3k to go before a BSRI service, I just used Shell Helix from a petrol station, which I know is not even a fully-synthetic oil in the true sense. This was recommended to me by my Ingress SC.

Talking about engine oil top up. Is it common for the E90 to top up to 1L of engine oil between OCI or only specific engine?

Very rare for me to encounter engine oil consumption up to 1L between OCI even at 15-20k km...with other non BMW engine.

Only the N52 magnesium variant.

It was the first time for me. The oil level sensor is sensitive to faults (mine once showed completely empty immediately after an SC oil change) I reckon it wasn't being accurate that day, but as I was going outstation, I didn't want to take the chance. Called my SC and he told me to top up at any petrol station. So much for BSRI/warranty being voided if you top up with off-the-shelf fluids. :4:

Any idea why so and where did the oil goes? Anyone with oil catch tank to determine if it flow to somewhere to be burnt/rid off?

Nope! can't trace, dry exhaust, no oil stain in coolant reservoir, no oil catch tank in BMW, engine breather hose goes back to the crank case. [brilliant idea]

Those who uses x-40 rated engine oil will not have this problem. Suspect the 5w-30 too thin of this engine.

any idea on how to transfer BSRI from previous owner ?

BSRI follows the car, not the owner. SC only recognises the key fob. Once slot in the key fob into their computer like a thumbdrive, all history reveal. All u need to do is update the owners data. Just show the SC proof that u are the new owner.
