Not as far as I know. BSRI lasts for 3 years or 60,000km, after that you're on your own.

BTW, if your car has reached 65k, it's time to change the Automatic Transmission Fluid. That's the latest recommendation by BMWM, to change the ATF at 60k. It should cost you about RM800+.

Yes will be doing the ATF on my 75k service.
My idrive was not programme properly because at 45k, I decided to go for 10k service interval instead of 20k. So when i went at 55k, the SA forgot to reset it for 10k intervals... Yeah..someone was telling me that SA may be "cheating" me telling my car is ok ok and after bsri expires..all the probs start.

Sometimes... i really think they practice this. Before warranty expires, you try sending in for one last inspection and of course everything is OK. Right after it lapse on the next service appointment... this and that would come out cos wear n tear :p

But that's just a thought no concrete proof whatsoever that this actually happens....

This is interesting. BMW has always maintained all this while the oil is good for the "lifetime" of the vehicle.

This would depend whether how many years is considered as "lifetime" to BMW.. ie. 7 years? 10 years?

If I remember reading up on some Old School guide to taking care of your BMW written by some fellow quite some years ago, he did state several things in regards to car maintenance which goes against the conventional guideline issued by BMW in terms of their BSRI terms & conditions.

Hi cklein! But I also wonder...if we are to change the ATF at 65K km when the BSRI runs out at 60K km...hmmm...will BMW change the ATF 5K km earlier for us...800MR of ATF!

You chaps didn't read my post clearly. ATF change is not covered by BSRI eventhough BMWM now recommends changes at 60k. The official position of BMW is still that ATF is 'lifetime' and engine oil is 20k. BMWM is merely 'recommending' that you do the changes at 60k and 10k respectively...but at your own cost. This is probably due to the many cases of gearbox problems and sludged engines throughout the world.

The problem is that the word 'lifetime' normally means 'forever' to most people. 'Lifetime ATF' means lifetime of the gearbox. It doesn't even mean lifetime of the car, let alone your life or 'forever'. :1: My estimate would be 5 to 7 years for the lifespan of an auto gearbox.

Please bear in mind that changing ATF is not without risks. If it's not done properly, it will screw up your gearbox, so doing it under the cherry tree to save a few bucks is not advisable.

Can we extend our BSRI beyond the 60k/3 years limit...how much to make it 100K/5 years? How much more to pay?

Just a quick update on my experience on my latest oil change under BSRI. Experience is with Ingress.

My intentions : To fix squeeking sound on my center dashboard, BSRI Oil change and warranty on peeling steering wheel

Outcome: Found out from SA that for BSRI service and workshop fixes, need to indicate in advance that want to fix stuffs as they sent to a different part of the workshop to do that. So, can't promise the warranty/dashboard fix but BSRI maintenance sure will do cos I booked in advance. Waited half day and they managed to get both my steering wheel cover changed (warranty) and also they found out during inspection checked that my front absorber mounting worned off and so they changed for me as well (warranty) and they completed the BSRI oil/filter change.

Overall : Satisfied but wished they could have fixed the squeeking sound from my center dashboard (no time as I didn't booked in advance). Apparently, it is a known issue. Hopefully to do that on my next visit. Right now just a satisfied customer with their services and commitment. Recommend although i think their beverage/food service counter could have been a lot better compared to the Lexus showroom.

The dreaded ABS warning popped up 3 times in the past month, but luckily I've reached the 50k Vehicle Check (full inspection) a month before my BSRI expires. Among other small things changed and software updates uploaded during the four-day stay, they changed my ABS pump! Failure of the ABS pump is a common problem, and it's something we can't do without because besides braking, the DCS depends on it, and therefore the 50:50 neutral handling of the car. Changing it at own cost would have cost more than RM11k.

Strictly speaking, it's not a BSRI item, but because it was a scheduled vehicle check and my unit was still under BSRI, the goodwill warranty was readily approved. BSRI is really tops in my books, as I've had a good number of things changed for free in the three years. :top:

Here's a tip for those of you who are in your third year of ownership, and warranty has expired. Try to reach 50k within your third year and send it in for the vehicle check. Anything that's failed or failing is very likely to be changed on goodwill by BMWM. :top: Be prepared to leave the car there for a few days.

not very reassuring to know that abs pump failure occurs within 3 years. what other big ticket items can fail in these 3 years? 11k for a abs pump? You must be kidding.

they used to claim that. not anymore after many claims of engine failure in the US and elsewhere.
