What's the difference besides the mileage limits? I'm still a tad bit confused as warranty is 2 yrs but BSRI is 3. Is BSRI warranty as well? Sorry if this was discussed earlier but I can't find any thread on it. Thanks!

RI = Repair Inclusived. So anything wrong or failed, they will repair for you (for free). Do you consider this as warranty? To me it is in some sense. One thing they never mentioned is that whether the cost for the parts is chargeable or not. I would think it is chargeable. Like many of the car makers, they throw in free services (labour only) but oil and parts are chargeable.

I believe whatever items which are covered under BSRI are free (the parts) so u dont need to pay a single sen if it is coverred under BSRI.

BSRI only covers a handful of items, FOC for parts + labor but must follow OBC counters. Cannot simply request for change just because you felt like changing it or your BRSI about to due.

The handful of items are listed here: http://www.autobavaria.com/com/en/general/greatdeals/bmw_feel/BSRI/bmw_serviceinclusive.html

*Quote from above:

The service includes:
• Change of engine oil (not including top-ups).
• Service / replacement of air filters, microfilters, spark plugs, brake fluid.
• Brake pads, front and rear.
• Brake disc, front and rear.
• Clutch (worn only)
• Windscreen wiper blades as part of routine maintenance.
• Vehicle check and standard services as set out in BMW service booklet in owners documentation (chapter : Maintenance summary, Vehicle check)

Anything not in the above list, only covered by warranty, against manufacturer's defect, which includes almost everything.. hence only 2 years and 60k km whichever comes first... things like leaks, upholstery peeling, burnt fuses, door lock actuator, steering lock failure, etc. These are all claimed under warranty and not BSRI.. see the difference? :4:

One more thing.. u notice the spark plugs in the above list, I remember it wasn't there before. Reason is very simple, the CKD E90s are equipped with NGK Iridium which can last at least 100k km and that's is the OBC parameter for spark plugs change notification trigger. By the time the trigger illuminated, your BSRI would have expired 40k km ago.. :4:

Hmmnn... air filter wasn't there too!! I wonder what's the mileage to trigger air filter change.. my car is 66k km now.. air filter still hasn't change.. :(

Thanks AB for the information but I am still confuse on this statement in bold (extracted from AutoBavaria website):

"The service includes:

• Change of engine oil (not including top-ups).
• Service / replacement of air filters, microfilters, spark plugs, brake fluid.
• Brake pads, front and rear.
• Brake disc, front and rear.
• Clutch (worn only)

• Vehicle check and standard services as set out in BMW service booklet in owners documentation (chapter : Maintenance summary, Vehicle check)
• Repairs beyond warranty covered during programme period.

• Order the car.
• Arrange delivery to you.
"

Does it means warranty?

New car BSRI is for 5 yrs or 100k km. How come there is a change in strategy? because of sales or is it too many items will get spoil by then??

IMHO more like promoting end of life products i.e the E90 three series.
throw in all the goodies, before the arrival of F30.

more like e90 clearance sale:22: ..also applies to certain other models like the X1 (if not mistaken) Consider it just like 'pre-paid' service package for the next 2 years after normal BSRI ends and its not free - cost rm5k for it:23:

I think it is for the year end 2011 car on selected model. They always play around with interest rates as well.

From what I understand the labor is covered (service) but the parts are not. So if your transmission dies 4 years and 11 months down the road you get to pay for the transmission but they cover the x hour labor costs required to put the transmission in. Again my understanding, never had to do this before :D

What's that part about the clutch? How many manual cars does BMW Malaysia sell in a year? :D

The BSRI can be misleading due to the RI parts...ie Repair Inclusive...it is not really repair inclusive in literal sense...

Say now the E90 package now come with 5yrs BSRI and 2yrs warranty... if the ABS module or ECU failed on3rd year onward... you on your own...

I rather look at BSRI purely a service/maintenance package...

Stand corrected above...

I agree with gamenoob. I take BSRI as maintenance program.
You may get something on the 3rd year as good will though.
Knowing our beemer, no such thing that they will repair everything for you for 100k km or 5yrs.
