mpower, can you share how much you bought it for?

195 50 15 for RM240.00 a piece. Forgot to check on where are they made in. I will take a peep later today.

Is the RE001 the one with not only directional but also different threads for left and right sides? So, you always have to buy 2 lefts and 2 rights?

yes and no - depending on size

nope, the re001 is not from thailand made. tombstone, can you check on the tire, where is was manufactured?

this special size 205/55/15 is made in japan

the 195/50/15 is made in thailand

my 205/50/16 is made in japan as well...

(this knowledge is based on my purchase of these sets of tyres)

the tyres u guys are talking about are all semi slick category so cant go wrong...only will differ in characteristic alittle(wet n dry)...im running the GIII's for a year and no prob.....just ane advice stick to the 205/55 15 for the e30 and u cant go wrong...its the perfect combination for good ride comfort and good handling....

Bro, since you mentioned about 205/55-15 giving good combo in terms of comfort and handling, what's your opinion of 205/40-17 on 17x7.5" rims with +20 offset?

Thanks in advance.

17 on e30 will not give you comfort nor better handling. Optimum is either 15 or 16 for the e30.

Mirage is right, 205/55/15 give you the best of both worlds. :) and it look good on the e30 too.

each to their own, by I'd say that 17" wheels are overkill for E30... max is 16", 15" is optimum for ride and handling... 17" kills the ride, and handling is not better than 15 or 16, and in some cases, it's even worse..

but big wheels also looks good on the car. So, it's not the end of 17" for E30. If you want the look but sacrifice the comfort and handling, 17" can be your taste. But if you want to look good, comfort and handling, 15" and 16" is the optimum. If you want standard, bottle caps 14" still do.

thanks for all the response.

Yup.... It'll look way cool. Just an itch to go large from my original rims that;s so very old now. also dont know where to source for new rims that are also not too expensive or good used ones at good price. 4 lubang rim susah cari lah.

anyhow, got to weld up rusts and get a paint job first.

thanks again and apologize for 'highjacking' this thread

now using 14x6.5 ET35 dunno what brand alloys. ugly and paint peeling. claims to be made in italy casted in rear of wheel. dont event know if for real made in italy.

wheel center cap is stating Across Racing

bigger rims stresses more suspension parts on an old car....

bigger tyres on this bigger rims requires more power to run and also consumes more fuel and will suffer in acceleration.

since bigger rims carries higher unsprung weight as well, handling affected too not to mention braking.....

so at least for rims - big not always best. ( unless ur reason is PURELY cosmetic )

go 15 or 16 but then even 15 is hard find nowadays.

good luck!

I totally agree with elwine and jules...the best combo is still 15 or 16 max...

anyway, i have decided to go for this tires. Since it's a performance tires, it should fit into my requirements. Plus, it's an 07 tire so it should last me even if i hardly drive my e30. New tires makes a difference. Btw, i like the thread of the RE001, quite sexy actually.

mpower, do share with us on your experience with this tire on wet, noise level, dry and grip.

As you can see, the tyres and rims have not benn mounted on my car yet, so cannot really tell you yet about its performance. See the yellow line and sticker! Just experience them briefly on friend's car and in short, they are excellent and you cannot go wrong with them. For semi slick, the noise should be there and I think those who buy semi slick do not care about this issue. Grip and handling are what we look for after the semi slicks.

Anyhow, will put a complete review once really test them. Stay tuned.
