MORNING PRACTICE SESSION : 11.00am – 12.30pm

BRIEFING : 2.30pm @ Briefing Point Marina Building
AFTERNOON PRACTICE : 2.45pm

RACING : 3.15pm
PRESENTATIONS : 5.15pm

VENUE: RI-YAZ HERITAGE BAY MARINA, DUYONG ISLAND, Kuala Terengganu.

Teams is divided into groups of 6 people per yacht, max!. Included in the entry fee is a “Learn to Sail” theory Session with Monsoon Cup Yacht Manager & sailing Coach Dave Mills. All yachts have professional sailing coaches on board. All safety equipment will be supplied. All you need to bring is the willingness to learn and experience something new & exciting!
This "Sailing" event is open to ALL (OM/CG/Forummer) but preference will be given to OM to "Sail". We have 5 yachts tentatively booked and registration will be on First-Come-First-Serve basis.
Sight-seeing cum shopping will be arranged for those not participating in the sailing event. Kindly register as per posted and we will notify of full program soon.

Closing date of registration is 5th. April 2012 for the Sailing Event and 20th April 2012 for the Drive.

Further we have been informed by the event organisers that the ladies preferably join up with other groups as it could be dangerous for an all ladies team to sail without any male accompanying. I have taken the liberty to reassign the ladies. * Sorry guys and gals if I messed with your prior arrangements but the organizers suggested at least 2 males per team.

Here is the tentative schedule of event for Sailing on 5[SUP]th[/SUP] May 2012

Schedule:

* 0900​​ Registration
* 0920​​ Welcome by course facilitator
* 0930 – 1045 ​ Commencement of Theory Session at Marina Building
•1100 – 1230​​ To the yachts for safety brief and introduction to the F36.
​​​ Depart Marina for on water training session
* 1245​​ Return to Marina
* 1430​​ Race brief at Briefing Point Marina Building for all teams
* 1445​​ Afternoon practice​​
* 1515​​ Approximate start of Race 1. Windward Leeward Course
* 1550​​ Start of Race 2. Trapezoid Course
* 1635 ​​Start of Race 3. Windward Leeward
* 1700​​ Start of Finals
* 1800​​ Race results and presentations

Course:
Qualifying Round
Windward / leeward: Course consisting of 2 laps. Port rounding of all marks.
Trapezoid Course: As per race instructions on the day

Finals
Windward Leeward Course.

Scoring:
Qualifying Round: low point system
Finals: first team to attain 2 wins.

Starting Procedure:
-
5 minute sound signal and warning flag
-
4 minute preparatory signal
-
1 minute sound signal and preparatory signal lowered
-
0 minutes sound signal all flags lowered
Premature starters will be penalised if they do not return.
There will be no onshore protests, 360 penalties for any infringements

* There will be other events for non sailor, to be confirmed later
 
For those who are first timers to the club's drives, here are some information on the do(s) and don't(s).....

WALKIE TALKIE FREQUENCY
PRIMARY FREQUENCY

CHECK LIST BEFORE THE START OF JOURNEY.
  • Check all fluids (radiator water, brake fluids, power steering fluid)
  • Check ALL tyres’ pressure/conditions inclusive of spare tyre.
  • Check Brake pads and disc.
  • Check Engine Oil.
  • Check all Emergency Tools are available – jack, pliers, screwdriver, wheel spanner, Emergency reflector, diagnostic tools.
  • Check wiper blades and apply Rain-X (if possible)
  • Fuel Up the car for the journey.
  • Top-up the Touch N Go card (at least RM150 for the journey) and use Smart-Tag
  • Bring a GPS or Navigation Device to assist in your journey.
  • Bring a Walkie talkie and remember to fully charged it.
  • Bring a Car charger for your hand phone.
  • Bring a Camera or Handy cam to take photos and video shot of the trip.
  • Bring some plastic bags for light rubbish or in case somebody throw up.
  • Bring some light medication for sea sick, headache etc.
  • Pack some water, hot coffee (or Livita/Red Bull) as light refreshment.
  • Pack some light snack/ sweets in the event you are feeling hungry.
  • Get a goodnights rest before the drive.

RULES AND REGULATION WHEN IN A CONVOY
  1. Do NOT overtake the LEAD car at any time unless he signals you to do so.
  2. OBEY the Marshall guidance and instruction at ALL time.
  3. Drive safely at all times and keep within the speed limit while on the highway.
  4. Wear seat belts at all time for drivers and passengers.
  5. Keep your headlight and fog “ON” during the convoy.
  6. Keep at least 2 car distances when following the car in front of you. This is to allow enough braking distance in case of heavy traffic.
  7. Do not speed and endanger other motorist and pedestrian when driving in town area.
  8. At traffic lights, use all the lanes and ensure you follow the Marshalls to clear the lights/obstacles.
  9. In the event of any emergency, switch on your hazard lights and slowly move to the emergency lane of the road.
  10. If you cannot keep up with the convoy, just signal “LEFT” to allow the car behind to overtake you. (Not to worry – the sweeper will keep you company).
  11. Use your walkie talkie to keep in touch with the latest development or change of route. Do not talk unnecessary when using the walkie talkie.
  12. In case of any deviation from the schedule route by participant, the participant shall inform the Marshall at the next possible opportunity via hand phone or walkie talkie.

Breakdown Procedures

  1. In the event of any emergency or break down of the car, the person affected shall switch on the hazard lights and slowly move to the emergency lane of the road.
  2. The convoy shall continue with only the sweeper staying behind to lend any assistance to the car that have problem. Marshall shall take over as the Sweeper for the convoy.
  3. Marshall shall inform the Lead car of the situation.
  4. Lead car shall proceed to the next R&R stop area. The convoy shall wait and regroup entire convoy with assistance of Marshalls.
  5. Upon checking in with Sweeper if further help is needed, Lead car and convoy will proceed to destination. Sweeper will assist stranded car to safe zone/await pickup.
  6. Sweeper will proceed to destination once stranded car has a firm plan of action going forward

Roles of Lead, Sweeper and Marshall Cars
Lead Car -
Set the pace for the convoy within the speed limit on the highway. The lead car shall keep constant contact with Sweeper and Marshalls to ensure convoy in keep in formation.

Sweeper
The Sweeper shall ensure the convoy in keep in formation and shall inform the Lead car to speed up or slow down when the formation of the convoy is breaking up. The sweeper shall also provide assistance to any cars in the convoy in the event of car breakdown or emergency case.

Marshall -
The Marshall shall sweep back and forth in between the convoy groups. He shall ensure that the convoy formation is keep intact. The Marshall instructs and controls any car that is found to be driving too dangerously or recklessly.
