Current mileage is 233449km. Done about 35,000kms this year alone.

Whole thing took about 3 hours to complete.

Also bought two good condition front wheel arch liners from Hakitrade Subang to replace my cracked ones but didnt get the chance to fit it since I was in a rush and left as soon as the above job is finished. Perhaps I'll DIY when I have the time.

Bad news is my office has blocked BMWClubmalaysia (or any searches related to BMW for that matter!) since my browsing has attracted the attention of the management probably. Thats why I'm a lot less active in the forums now and also I'm very busy in the office nowadays. Look at the time now, I've just arrived back from the office about 15 minutes ago.

Ha ha, Eggie probably could be next...

Hi HayWire,

It was nice meeting you at Bomin. Nice ride you have there. Next time when you have time, we meet up for tea.

Errr...I was warned by Bomin not to post any prices anymore as I'm now considered a regular customer and enjoyed some close to cost price items.

But I can tell you it was cheap....

As I said before Bomin's prices have not yet been beaten by any other spare parts shop in my experience. Eventhough I go to Bomin for all my services now, I still call Bavarian Auto, Inner Power and Suan Huat just to check and the price differences still surprises me.

But the convenience of a spare parts shop and a workshop together is why I'm always there. Anything you need is just there no need to order and wait for runner to come.

Bomin is also my regular mech. That's the only place i send my car for maintenancevand repair. For aircon, i go to Naidu.

Which part of Sri Damansara are you located? I live in SD9/2.

Installed the rear shelf with the electric blind (still not complete yet)

Hey guys. Been a while since the last update. Still busy with work.

However, had some time today so I figured I better start with my rear blind which has been sitting in my house for quite some time already.

Before that bro Vixx came and I installed the wiring for his SMG steering and we had a drink and roti canai afterwards.

Right after he left I started work with my car, dismantling the rear seats, seatbelts, C-pillars and old shelf:

Parcel shelf out

Old shelf and the new shelf with the blind cutout, which was given to me for free by an M5 owner in UK.

Plastic bits not included in the new shelf

The electric blind fitted to the shelf

Testing the operation of the electric blind. Works fine when connected directly to the battery.

The new shelf with the electric blind goes on the car

6574878151_7336682b89_z.jpg

Note that these plastic tabs are used to hold and align the shelf to the metal part in the car

Those plastic tabs goes into these metal brackets. I had some trouble aligning these earlier, and took me some time to realise their importance. If these weren't aligned properly the C-pillar wont go back in correctly.

Everything put back together again nicely

As you can see in the last picture, its already dark when i put everything back together, and I also managed to run the wire to the front. Too tired by then to finish the last piece of the puzzle, which is to run a wire from fuse 32 in the glove fusebox to a junction box under the driver's seat. This last install will (well I hope it does) make the blind work from the centre control button.

Its quite a bit of work to install that last wire, the driver's seat need to be removed :dontknow:

I think I'll compile all the information needed to install this rear blind when I'm done with it, currently its in little bits and pieces since I can only install bits by bits due to time constraints.

I thought 530 always got the highest spec. Yours doesn't come with the rear blind? My ex 528 comes with the car.
Anyway massive mod there...

Not many UK cars have the blinds. They dont really need it. The sun rarely comes out there.

Next is the side blinds..

Anyone wants my old shelf? Still in good condition, made in Feb 2003. Slightly blue but not too bad.

Gimme an offer.

That was pretty quick, am leaving your place about 5 already.

Skills lah bro....tumbsup :)

Most of these things I have already done few times before so I know what I was doing already. No need reading and research here and there. Should've finished earlier and install the final wire too but had trouble aligning the new shelf and the C-pillar, by then it was dark and I couldn't find my tools already. I think I left a socket screwdriver under my rear seats, thats a job for another day I guess.

Side blinds and doorcards finally arrived

The side blind set including the doorcards and associated trims has finally arrived from UK.

Big box

More packaging inside the box after removing some substantial padding materials. The seller really did over-packaged these items. Took me a while to open all these. Those newspaper wrappings are double layer with tapes too.

6698826239_574fc661e2_b.jpg

All the items unpacked. All seems to be in good condition, however some small trims, hooks and brackets are missing.

Contacted the seller and he said dont worry, he should still have the items, just that he doesnt know what's what, so many small items since he was breaking the whole car. Gave him pictures of items that I still needed and will get back to me tomorrow.

I have started to take apart some of these item to install in my car, but wont be able to install it yet until the other required parts are here.

Detailed DIY retrofit write-up will be posted later when I'm done.
