Replaced some parts at Bomin
Went straight to Bomin from my friend's place above, arrived there at 2.30 pm and they started on my car at 3pm so they dont have time to finish my rear suspension parts, only all the brakes and the front suspensions.
The old tired brakes and suspension parts
Leaking front absorbers. Damn the potholes and bumps!
Old rusted discs. Was meaning to repaint the calipers as well but dont have enough time, maybe next service. I'm thinking
RED calipers to give the car some contrast it needs.
New original BMW pads. As you can see from bottom left corner, its made by Textar.
Rusted discs again, look how bad they were from UK. Was meaning to change these for a while now, its recently warped and giving vibrations under braking.
Old suspension disassembled, new absorber alongside new one. The old strut doesnt even spring back out anymore, its really tired, glad I changed it now.
Old mounting and rubber parts. All oily and expanded
New parts. Lemforder drop links, mounting and rubber bits.
New mounting VS old one. Look how flat the old one is!
New Sachs Advantage absorbers. John @ Bomin was initially condemning these absorbers, saying these are only normal absorber and I would be better off with Bilstein B8, but I told him I preferred the ori M-sport absorber feeling. He was later surprised for its performance during test drive in the end.
New suspension re-assembled with new parts.
Completed re-assembly of front suspension
New suspension goes back on the car
New brakes go on.
Realised that my front auto-levelling headlight sensor arm was broken. It was supposed to be attached to the lower arm, to determine the height of the car. Parts of it was missing, will need replacement later as this is probably why my headlight was dipping too much.
At this point also decided to change the lower arm and the steering tie rod, the upper arm was just replaced last month. Replaced with TRW arms as Bomin dont have stock for Lemforder, and too much parts to replace already, poket koyak.
New Lemforder rubber boot for the tie rod.
All new arms, suspension and brakes installed.
Tyres goes back on and went to a nearby tyre shop for realignment. Will have to come back later for the rear suspension after raya.
