Cheap way is by altering the wiring for the folding mirrors, our member Kadir Rashid on this forum has done it to his E38...

Mine is using the Intravee to achieve this feature.

New Stuffs Arrived

Some stuff that I ordered from UK has just arrived on Saturday. Bought some of these stuffs from dealers and chop shop in the UK, sent to my friend who's coming back from Bristol and 'tumpang'ed his container. All in all 7 boxes altogether, no taxes!

All the boxes together, which have:

1) Complete set original BMW brake discs, pads and sensors

2) All 4 new suspension struts (front Sachs Advantage, rear Boge Turbo)

3) All 4 second hand original M-Sport II E39 suspension struts and springs (fellow forummer's items)

4) Complete set Birch Anthracite interior trims exactly the same as the one in my car (fellow forummer's items)

5) Second hand E39 car jack (to replace my stolen one at the port when I brought the car back last year)

6) Second hand rear grey seatbelt (to replace my broken one at the port when I brought the car back last year)

7) Original BMW fire extinguisher

Boge Turbo for the rears, exactly the same as Sachs Advantage above but just different branding. Made in the same production line and the same factory, just different name for different market. Same price and specs as Sachs Advantage above but seller didnt have stock for the Sachs. As long as its direct replacement for the original M-Sport II was OK for me.

All original BMW discs, pads and sensors

Replaced some parts at Bomin

Went straight to Bomin from my friend's place above, arrived there at 2.30 pm and they started on my car at 3pm so they dont have time to finish my rear suspension parts, only all the brakes and the front suspensions.

6065967142_cda261a5cc_z.jpg

The old tired brakes and suspension parts

6065969502_2b990d2401_z.jpg

Leaking front absorbers. Damn the potholes and bumps!

6065421999_f5ccb47bee_z.jpg

Old rusted discs. Was meaning to repaint the calipers as well but dont have enough time, maybe next service. I'm thinking RED calipers to give the car some contrast it needs.

6065422665_53af0cd7af_z.jpg

New original BMW pads. As you can see from bottom left corner, its made by Textar.

6067081824_e04a5491d3_z.jpg

Rusted discs again, look how bad they were from UK. Was meaning to change these for a while now, its recently warped and giving vibrations under braking.

6065422977_9e8d1097f0_z.jpg

Old suspension disassembled, new absorber alongside new one. The old strut doesnt even spring back out anymore, its really tired, glad I changed it now.

6065970148_baa48a7b26_z.jpg

Old mounting and rubber parts. All oily and expanded

6065425265_3dd63025a2_z.jpg

New parts. Lemforder drop links, mounting and rubber bits.

6065429009_d84b0545d3_z.jpg

New mounting VS old one. Look how flat the old one is!

6065422807_3a0f3f56ed_z.jpg

New Sachs Advantage absorbers. John @ Bomin was initially condemning these absorbers, saying these are only normal absorber and I would be better off with Bilstein B8, but I told him I preferred the ori M-sport absorber feeling. He was later surprised for its performance during test drive in the end.

New suspension re-assembled with new parts.

New suspension goes back on the car

6066538121_3d09cd3592_z.jpg

New brakes go on.

6065432129_169d2d6139_z.jpg

Realised that my front auto-levelling headlight sensor arm was broken. It was supposed to be attached to the lower arm, to determine the height of the car. Parts of it was missing, will need replacement later as this is probably why my headlight was dipping too much.

6066538231_100fb957b9_z.jpg

At this point also decided to change the lower arm and the steering tie rod, the upper arm was just replaced last month. Replaced with TRW arms as Bomin dont have stock for Lemforder, and too much parts to replace already, poket koyak.

6067082232_8c5be5194f_z.jpg

New Lemforder rubber boot for the tie rod.

6067082540_0bb0aa0cb3_z.jpg

All new arms, suspension and brakes installed.

6067082360_781a548d42_z.jpg

Tyres goes back on and went to a nearby tyre shop for realignment. Will have to come back later for the rear suspension after raya.

Nice updates bro!

Wah, it's as though Xmas and Raya came early for you this time around!
