Check if you have turned on email and message notification in your iPhone settings.

You don't need the Hdd unless you have navigation where the Hdd is use for map storage.

Of course I know you can store songs on your Hdd. However, due to limited space and extra effort to transfer from USB, many would prefer to play direct from smartphone.

I have a 64b iPad which I am planning to mount in the car as my entertainment system.

iPad is nice. Only problem is you may have to dismount every time when you leave your car. I would not leave it exposed in my car

I am actually doing it in my current car.

So its pretty okay.

Setting -> Notifications -> Mail -> Exchange Email ->

Notification Center "ON"
Alert style "Banners"
Badge App Icon "ON"
Show preview "ON"
View in Lock Screen "ON".. But still cannot get the emails. I cannot use BMW Live today, but the Internet is fine... Do you experienced the similar case recently..?

I don't remember that my email ever work at all with my iPhone 5. BMW Live server could be down sometimes. I don't think there is anything wrong with your settings since your Internet is working.

it only shows your newly receive sms after the phone connects to the car system..
