Guys, i found this posting on BMW.SG n i find it a good read. So just wanna post it up and share wif you guys. This could be a good lesson for those of us who are planning to sell their cars. Hi allAs some of you may know, I recently sold my Z3. It did not take me long to sell the car as it was tastefully modded and the car was in relatively good condition and had low mileage for its age.I want to share with you my experience of the sale process and wonder if any of shared the same experience as me when you sold your car. Despite the fact that my advert clearly stated that I did not wish to deal with any dealers, my suspicion is that some of the prospective buyers who approached me to view the car were dealers. This is also despite that fact that I always ask them right at the start of the meeting to confirm that they are genuine private buyers. Many many years ago, I sold my first car (a Honda Civic) and received many many phone calls from various people making offers "left right and centre" all with the aim of testing my price resistance. I was a greenhorn then and got taken in by the dealer. After the deal was done, I sat down with the dealer who revealed to me that he had got his associates to "corner" me by a sustained "switch and bait" process - thereby testing my price resistance and desperateness to sell. One of his associates would call me with a high offer, and then dissapear or come up with some stupid excuse that they cannot raise the financing needed, then another associate would make another offer that is lower and so on and so forth. Whenever I said that I had received a higher offer, the dealer would of course know that it was untrue because it was his associate that made the ungenuine offer in the first place. They wear you out and then unfairly take advantage of your gullibility in this way. From that episode, I didn't mind so much that I sold my car cheaper than what I could have got but what I did mind is that I was like a prey that was chased and hunted down by predators that moved in a pack. Nobody likes getting conned or taken advantage of unfairly like this.Anyway, as far as I know, this time, my Z3 was sold to a private genuine buyer. I very quickly decided to use what I learnt previously and rejected those who I thought were dealers. Sometimes, you can tell who they are - from their swagger, language or even the clothes they wear. One dealer even made me an offer that was below my Z3's paper value? Can you imagine? I've paid my "tuition" money before and won't be taken in this time, thank you.
