ASC control unit faulty

Today while driving suddenly the Transmission Failsafe program turn on and the ASC and ABS light on. The transmission is lock with just one forward gear and reverse. Initially was suspecting that maybe due to upgrading shocks to titan and they never installed the ABS properly. After that drove to M performance and diagnosis and found out the program unable to communicate with the ABS or ASC. The mechanic told me that the possibility is highly due to the ASC electronics is faulty. Then replace new and diagnosis again and it work fine. Problem solve.Damage cost for new ASC control unit RM 2300 including workmanship and parts.:frown: ouch..
 
Bro, may i know which model ASC cost RM2300 ? Or all model are the same?
 
I am not sure about other model, mine is E39 525i 2001 model.
 
mine also EML at the meter turn on...also warning symbol...is this because of the same problem?

Bro, EML stand for what means ?
 
Hi Elnino, I think is not the same, otherwise it will go to Transmission failsafe program.
 
Hi deep3102, you are right, according to the mechanic, if i protect or shield the heat from the extractor then it will last much more longer compare to none. They told me that most unit will fail in just several years. So now i plan to shield the heat from reaching the unit.

the abs control unit/module can actually be repaired.due to it's location,the engine heat is the thing that kills it.the wires inside gets cooked over time and whan a connection becomes open,the fault light will trigger.putting a heat shiled will definitely help but if you are the unlucky ones who always get caught in traffice jams,the abs unit will fry regardless even with the heat shield.try touching the metal surface after a jam.you will burn yr fingers.try touching with your palms after a cruise......you'll be surprised.....the airflow during a crz keeps the underhood temps to an acceptable level.....these diy pics(taken from bimmerforums) will save you rm2k....

Thanks moots. But your ABS is not E39 right?
 
My ABS unit on my E39 530 is faulty. Plug in the socket, the ABS keeps modulating. Unplug it and driving around with it now. Called up Albert and he told me just unplug and drive. No problem except no speedometer and a few functions. I called up Bomin, they qouted me RM 2000 for the black piece electronic module, need to bring in from Singapore. I was thinking of sending it for repair. Anyone here with experience in repairing the unit before? Thought of sending it here. Might only cost RM 1k including postage.
