Indeed seems like using fm transmitter. The setup is very safe as it doesn't really touch most of the existing vehicle electronics. Don't know if the amp is upgraded..

There are no additional amps. I've checked and so has the audio technician. I'm inclined to leave things as is for now, using the FM transmitter, i'll follow the old saying, it's not broke so dun fix it, hehe

The difference is obvious when you update your software to have the AuxIn instead of using radio frequency to transmit the sound to your speaker. I almost did the same setup as yours until Peter told me to update my software.. And I never look back since. The sound is definitely clearer :4:
Update software + Aux In cable should cost you less than RM1k :top:
I noticed that your dVD player is located under the glove compartment area. That's where my Garmin Gps module is.. While my DVD player is inside the glove compartment.. Added another sensor for extra sensitivity for my remote control :4:

I'll try to post some photo soon.. Although I have already posted in another thread

As promised.. here are the photos...
Those E60 from 2006 onwards should have "Audio Aux" but those from 2003-2005 most likely have to update software.. AB or Ingress will cost in the region of RM1k but some BMW specialist can do it for RM300-500. After that, you will need a Multimedia Interface which cost about RM2k in order to accommodate the DVD player, reverse camera as well as GPS module (will get back to it later)

My setup is typical... after the software update, your "Entertainment" section in iDrive should display this "Audio Aux" sign

once you click on the Audio Aux, the message "External Audio Source" will be displayed. Now this is where you need to push a button (they will install it for you) which is placed near the Auto Cruise Control lever area in order to change the screen...

iDrive screen in GPS mode

By the way, this is where my Garmin GPS module is located.. same place as bro TheTaj's DVD player

As for my DVD/USB player (it's Kenwood btw)... it's located inside the glove compartment where the CD changer used to be located. My reasoning is that since most of my songs are digital MP3 format, no point having the CD changer (they can't play DVD anyway) there... plus my changer was already "kong" so just took it out and replaced with the Kenwood player lo... fit perfectly I'd say :4:

Another click on the button, and the screen for the DVD player will be displayed.. these are only a fraction of thousands of songs in my collection :top:
Image644.jpg

I can also watch DVD directly from my iDrive screen! but most of the time, it'd be Barney (what to do? the daughter is the KING) and I'll listen to songs when she sleeps
Image646.jpg

Oh yes... this is when I engage the Reverse Gear.

My point is... Multimedia Interface is a MUST if you want to do this setup! Sound clarity is definitely better with the Audio Aux instead of having to transmit through radio frequency. My next project will be the 5-Channel Amp + corssover + 2x 6" speaker... but have to wait for the $$$ to come in first :4:

Oh yes.. before I forget, if you want to install reverse camera.. please get those that integrates with the license plate light which is easily available in eBay... Cmos or CCD which is in the region of RM100 but less than RM200... otherwise you will have to tebuk lubang on the trunk (I did that before realising product like this is available).

One thing about installing the DVD player inside the glove compartment is that it won't be able to detect the remote control... and that's why additional sensor have to be installed (RM380 or so.. from the US). The installer will know where to put the sensor so it can detect the remote control :top:
Otherwise you can choose to install the DVD player underneath the stock CD player (pic below)... where the DTC button is located (it's useless anyway in Malaysia). Provided that you is willing to cut the aluminium trim to accommodate the player...

Interesting racun... but my current DVD playlist in the car are nursery rhymes, ABC's, and Tom & Jerry cartoons. My kids won't notice the better sound quality since they are the ones making all the noise...:top:

mmm but cannot tahan and go for lil addition. Sneak preview or poison to all.

Stock sound is not lembik... just not up to your expectation only :4: right??? I'm also on stock speakers and so far satisfied with the sound.. although it definitely can do better! According to my trusted ICE guy.. another 5-channel amp (Alpine.. to power up existing subwoofer under the seats & the new speakers), crossover plus 2X 6" speaker modified on the front doors ought to do the trick! I have seen one E60 with this setting and it was simply awesome! The damage?? About RM4-5k including everything! My only problem is the $$$ though.. lol! And of course, this is just the beginning and if you have really deep pocket.. give him 20k and money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with his works. How confident is that??

Yes... E60 is full of electronic and that's why don't send your car to Brother's or places like that! But since you are in JB.. it's hard to recommend, unless you come to KL/PJ :top:

Not to worry bro, Mr IM comes to KL very often, in fact he was just recently in Kl.... and i guess he lost his hp

I went through the Audio Aux in + multimedia unit added. Since mine's a Jap spec, I got the radio modded and while at it, TV/video unit unlocked.
I use my iPod to play my tunes and videos (Toy Story, barney and stuff). I got pics in my thread titled "A New Chapter Begins" in the Showroom section

HP missing? Expect some interesting photos on the Net soon :)

Only God knows. Let people judge or think or hantam or kutuk or do bad thing to me. I wont reply or return the action. Let the God repay. I'm tired redy

But what about when you want to listen to songs?? I mean... if you are a radio freak then it's OK but if you are listening to CD/MP3... the sound will be exactly like radio!

P.S: My daughter loves Tom & Jerry too :4:
