Guys, I dropped by an accs shop in PJ and there were selling a set of angel eyes for E34 (actually, the box said for E46, but de boss said can fit in E34). The were retailing it for abt RM400+ and are from Taiwan. Just a few questions perhaps de sifus can help with: 1. RM400 buck seems like a steal cause I read from some thread that a set can cost above RM1000k. Too good to be true or there is something that I don't know? 2. I read from Fabian's thread that the lights are installed outside the headlights on the cover. I can't see de pic from his thread, but judging from the "frog eye" description, I'm guessing that thats how its done. However, can the lights be installed inside the headlight covers? 3. Anyone got any experience with the Taiwan made angel eyes? What other alternatives? Also, I'm also thinking of installing HID lights to the foglights. Is it as easy as just replacing the stock bulb and installing the ballast, or do I have to get the entire headlights assembly again? Also, anyone has done it on their ride, appreciate if you can share your experience. Thanks in advance to help shed some 'light' to my confusion... :D

All angel eyes available in the Malaysian market are made in Taiwan. So basically we are all experiencing Taiwan made ones :) The earlier version 2.0 had very poor quality control and the version 2.1 is supposed to be better, at least there are fewer complaints of sudden deaths.

There are a few type of angel eyes for e34 and these are the indicative prices :-

1. LED angel eyes + light cover - RM220
2. CCFL angel eyes + light cover - RM399
3. LED angel eyes + light assembly - approx RM1000 (this version comes with the whole headlight as well)

For your spotlight as long as you get the correct type of HID then it is a direct fit (eg if yours is H1 then get H1 HIDs).

If you find out that the angel eyes do not have light cover, do not get them as the lights without protection will fail quickly when water splashes, stone chips etc etc

i went to auto technika in ss2 today and was quoted rm450 for angel eyes...7000k version c/w 3 months warranty...

guys... honestly.... is it worth it? i like the angel eyes, but often heard ppl complaining that the ballast kaput..

please advise...

thanks.

I just called Auto technika.. unfortunately they dun have angel eyes for E34. :(

Also, whats the diff between LED and CCFL?

give 2 days I will post up angel eyes DIY up the forum as I have just fitted 1 on to my ride. Drop dead gorgeous and cost RM300 only for a 7000k with a ver2.1 ballast.

Hi Dan,

3. Thought that the whole assembly cost around RM1300-1800 !?? RM1000 where to get ?

Pm me if you want I can help get it for you through one of my parts supplier. I order most of the parts direct from Taiwan/Thailand. I've taken a pic of the light assembly with the angel eyes during the day.. still looks very bright. Will post it later when I have the time.

Err... not sure the name of the shop, but its round de corner from the Paramount LRT station, few doors from the post office. I was also a bit skeptical when he said that. Dunno if I misheard / misunderstood him or wat.... Anyway, its not the entire light assembly. Just de 4 rings and some other parts.

Will prob drop by Sunway this Sat morn to do more research... :D

slowly..slowlylah........i spend almost 1 1/2 years still yet to complete the whole project.........:)

the installation for e46 and e34/e30 is very different because you cannot open the lights of the e30/34. That is why there are only 2 options ie.) full light assembly or the led/ccfl with the light covers. Nevertheless, bravo to your DIY skills for your e46!
