Salam & hi to all e39 sifus & otaiAs I mentioned in my newbie intro I was given a chance to drive my elder bro’s brand new e39 523 in 1997, then now its time for me to get myself an e39Just got the car a month ago 2001 525 m54 Japan spec titan silverViewed it from mudah, went to the dealer, called Albert from WP auto for checking, diagnose n test drive, put the deposit & its done!Thanks to haywire for the headlight adjuster & oso to make tv can be watched while driving, previously just to hear the audio.. My ride in standard stock only..Hope to see, know & learn more from sifus & otai e39 here

Japan E39 never changed to diamond keys until end of production. IR keys all the way.

IR stand for Infrared Remote. Infrared remote is only comes with 2 buttons and it cannot convert to diamond by just only change the remote. Your car is using 3 buttons remote with frequency. This meaning your remote can converts to old type remote or old type remote can converts to diamond shape remote.

If Infrared remote converts to diamond shape remote, alot of things you have to do. You have to disable the IR receiver at rear mirror, install 1 pair of antenna amplifier which located at left and right C pillar and might need to use inpa scanner to do the coding to make the antenna amplifier to communicate with GM3 or GM5 module.

Thanks to tweiboon for d IR remote key! Got it done at half price compared to AB.. oso for the installation of the headlight adjuster without opening d lense. now driving at night with more confident. brighter view & safer journey at night is priceless..

Diamond shape is using radio frequency to remote the car. IR remote is using infrared to remote the car.
