Hello,I would like to seek the forums' wise and experienced opinions...I own a BMW 318i here in UK (2010 - 4 cylinders)...and am planning to bring it back....This model is not available in Malaysia (right?)...so now I am wondering about the availability of spare parts if I were to bring it home....Should I or shouldn't I bring it home...Dilemmaaa....Pls advice....thank youuuuu....have a good ride this weekend!

Hello there sis, can you post your VIN number (can be seen on your front windscreen, bottom of passenger side) or from your V5 registration card so we can confirm your engine type and availability here. Only the last 7 digits will suffice. Eg: CK19684

Where are you in UK? When are you coming back? Depending on when you're coming back you might not have time to change car since you'll need 9 months ownership to get an AP. MITI are being VERY strict at the moment for your info.

hello,
thank you for your reply haywire...
my vin no.: A496875....so what do you think? easy to get spare part or not?

yes...i heard AP very difficult la these days...let's say i hv 9 mths on documents of the car (grant, insurance, receipt) but not the rest of the other documents....easy or not?

if both answer is NO....then looks like i hv to leave behind my car....and come home to m'sia drving a proton....hehehe

Looks like you have the N43 engine then. Those with this engine can advise, I'm not really the one to comment since I dont own one of this engine.

About the AP, that I have some experience with. Brought my car back with me last summer from Bristol. Everything you need to know is stated here:

miti.gov.my/cms/content.jsp?id=com.tms.cms.article.Article_12a8fe50-ac1c231a-1ca18370-955a9d52

If you really owned your car for over 9 months by the time you get back, then you should have no problem, if its not, you cant get the documents backdated like they used to do in the past. MITI has a system to check these now and sure kantoi one.

Thanks Haywire.
Hope someone can reassure me about the spare part.
And noted about the AP application. 9 mths definitely a must these days!

Cheapest spare parts in the region (or even the world) at Eng Soon in Singapore. Use google to find details.:listen:

I thought the 320i and the 318I share the same engine just that the 318i is a detuned version?

Friend just ditched the 320i to get a Brand new 318I with M sports. to me, not much of a difference in terms of performance.

regards

Yup

can always get it from Eng Soon..

Just call them and tell them the chassis number, they have a good stocklist and if not, can order for you and should be quite fast.
