Help! I have a 97 328i that seems to have intermittent instrument cluster failure which entails the fuel gauge, tach, speedometer and temp gauge all falling to zero while driving and within half a second, get back to normal. I've tried to first thing, which was to tighten all the grounds and connectors, and clean them, but apparently the problem was not fixed. It seems like a power issue, rather than a cluster issue, but I was wondering if anyone has had a problem like this?Replaced Battery - Not Helping Too.

I had the exact same problem. If I recall correctly my searching shows that its an alternator problem. But I ignored it and after awhile it stopped doing that, works just fine now.

Had that problem with my e32. I changed and resoldered all capasitors and fix the problem

I had the same problem, mech said was capacitor problem but couldn't locate it. Solved the problem by replacing the instrument panel with a new one from potong shop.
