Dear All,I am new to this forum.I have just bought a used 325i yr 02.I notice that the sound proof is very bad when i speed at 130 - 140km/h... and become quite unbearable when it hits higher than 160km/h.Is it normal??? Cos i heard from my friend that the sound proof of this car is actually quite bad. If not, any recommendation to change anything to make the noise level reduce?? and where to get a good and reasonable price workshops??also, the noise come especially from the back of the car. Thanks :stupid:

Noise level is actually subjective. Coming from Camry maybe you will say noisy. Coming from my previous Waja..... silent heaven! :)

Anyway, what kind of noise are you hearing? Road noise? Wind noise? Tire noise? Exhaust noise? Engine noise?

Mine has sports exhaust, so it is a bit loud when revved, but that's on purpose.

the 325i engine gets louder around 3.5k revs...this is when the second vanos opens and should be around 160kmh plus..

Hi all,

Sorry, i was on leave and no internet...

Well, the noise come from the back and i notice 2 sound... tire and wind sound..

The things are every single car do give way for the wind but i felt that the noise level is consider high if i compare with my Honda Accord... I bring it to Auto Bavaria and they told me this is normal.. huh???

They told me this car is for performance and not for luxury.. so how can i define this??

there is 5 ,6, 7 series above 3 series for sound proof perfomance . I don't expect much from 3 series on anything. it just compact sedan.

SP Mat for All Cars

Dear William.cts,

Feeling irritated while driving due to the excessive noise from the road? Unsatisfied with the bass produce by your speaker? Feeling unsecured with noise coming in from the thin metal body of your car?

All of this could come to an end with SP Mat Soundproofing.

Introducing SP Mat, the next generation of soundproofing solutions made from modified bitumen. It is an amazing sound dampening and absorption product that comes complete with aluminium backing to withstand high temperature. Unlike SP Mat, conventional bitumen based soundproofing products can easily melt under high temperature and harden upon cooling. Due to hardening, dampening effect will not take place, hence soundproofing effect will be minimal.
Benefits of SP Mat Soundproofing
• Reduce excessive noise created by the road from the car tyres.
• Reduce significantly on exhaust sound when stick on the correct area.
• Increase solidness of the car body such as doors, bonnet and other parts of the car.
• Increase the production of bass from your car speaker.
• Reduce vibration of door panels if correct installation had been done to the doors.

Dimension per piece:
• Length : 760mm
• Width : 300mm
• Thickness : +/- 3mm

Price:
• 6pcs/box = RM198

For best effect install with SP Foam (3ft x 4ft x 6mm) which cost RM35/pc

Please drop me an e-mail for further information.

E46 has the loudest engine sound among so many model of 3series . . . but the engine sound actually sounds nice if u kinda like sporty sound from a car . . . If u like those quiet 1 . . E46 cant satisfied what u want . . .

Hey bro i got question . . my E46 2002 wind sound getting stronger how cum . . . after 110km/h start to hear wind sound . so damn annoying ! ! how to solve this . . .

lets say if i reach 160 the wind sound onli appear thats ok . . but 110 ady can hear . . OMG HELP

Well as someone mentioned, 'noisy' is subjective. I wouldn't complain that my 325i '01 is noisy below 160km/h.

May i suggest changing all the rubbers around the doors, windshield etc.? Bound to make a difference and those are due for replacement anyway. I know mine are :D

about this noisy talk, anyone using toyo t1r? its super noisy to me. my car came with michelin(smooth), but the tyre shop recomend me T1R. damn, i shouldnt listen to him
