i'm having the same problem too, d rear tire is damn noisy while running, been checked with some mech, they told me it caused of d tire, one of d rear tire thread worn out, thats why this happen, n my tire size is 255/35/18. Its nothing problem with d bearing, its ur tire.

some toughts...

Tyres produce noise due to:
1. Type of compound
2. Tyre weidth (the larger means larger surface contact)
3. Thread pattern
4. Groove dimension

Ideally, tyre for Malaysia's climax (unpredictable weather) has to be bigger groove which will produce extra sound level but can be reduce with softer compound which will increase tyre cost and of course wear and tear will be more faster. The reason for bigger groove is when the the tyre surface contact with road surface, the outer groove surface will reduce due to the forces and our hot environment but it must be big enough give way to water in wet condition. Small grooves of course will create lower sound level and slightly better traction but will not suitable for wet condition.
Different from other country they may change tyres every seasons change......just a tought.

Wider tires does not mean larger surface contact
Usually just change the shape of the contact patch.

Cheers
