what does it mean by rolling the fender? i see my tyres got marks which shows it is rubbing...
ICEMAN 13;547264 said:the outer side of the fender or inner ?? you need to jack the car up in order to get the right point of rubbing ...
when you use an aggresive offset wheel which potrudes out a litte ..over the fender ..inorder to tuck them in you may need to roll the fender to get those wheels tucked in ...
fender rolling is done by using a tool called fender roller ... try to google around and you'll see it better rather than words ...
bongyt2;547265 said:bro,i got it.... when i past a huge uneven road, my tyres touch the outer side of the fender... inner is minor right?
ICEMAN 13;547266 said:if touching ya outer side then you need to roll the fenders OR use a less broader tyre ...maybe 245 ka ...
if inner than you may add a spacer to overcome it ...
try looking at the outer fender carefully ...at times there is an " L " shape lip appears there ...not so sure for e46 , but for e36 there is an " L " shape lip there which wereby needs to be rolled a little ....
bongyt2;547267 said:bro,
oh? i never knew there is an " L" shape lip... but will take a look to see if got.. if i want to avoid rubbing, can i adjust my camber and also install hard springs?
bongyt2;547269 said:the current rate of my spring is not known... but i really wish to know.. my neighbour says that it could be the camber problem... i think i would rather loose a little comfort than to adjust the height of my rear...

Make sure the tyre shop familiar with E46. I only know E90 rear camber adjustment need super long size 17 wrench. Not every tyre shop has it.
When u do the alignment go see the reading on the machine. Ask the foreman to explain to u the readings. I only look at toe in, and camber. Refer to the link I posted in page 1 for u. Those are recommended figures, they may not get it 100%, agak2 will do. Pay attention to your rear camber. If u see positive camber, all your problem solved! Set it to negative 1.34 and u are all set! All this suspension hardening, fender rolling and what not are meant for extreme moders.. we newbie best stay stock to avoid tweaking the wrong things.
If you are already at negative 1.3, then u may ask for say -1.6, I think that's max. For your info, some of us are running -2.0
If that couldn't solve, I'll take u to a place that do fender rolling using this:

as what AB said, go chk your camber first, then decide next action...btw, whats your offset for the rear? (remove the rims and look at the inner part for something that says 'et' example et30...
worst case, adjust your camber to -2 deg and rotate your rear tyres at every 6000 (ps3 is non directional tyres..so you can rotate without dismounting the tyres)

How come when u do alignment they never tell u camber lari meh? Normally tyre shop will fast fast ask you to fix if camber lari and they will show u the reading, both your current reading and the recommended reading. When do camber, alignment will lari and need to redo alignment. Go back to the same shop and demand FOC on alignment lor otw, u need to pay alignment again.
