the outer side of the fender or inner ?? you need to jack the car up in order to get the right point of rubbing ...

when you use an aggresive offset wheel which potrudes out a litte ..over the fender ..inorder to tuck them in you may need to roll the fender to get those wheels tucked in ...

fender rolling is done by using a tool called fender roller ... try to google around and you'll see it better rather than words ...

if touching ya outer side then you need to roll the fenders OR use a less broader tyre ...maybe 245 ka ...

if inner than you may add a spacer to overcome it ...

try looking at the outer fender carefully ...at times there is an " L " shape lip appears there ...not so sure for e46 , but for e36 there is an " L " shape lip there which wereby needs to be rolled a little ....

bro,

oh? i never knew there is an " L" shape lip... but will take a look to see if got.. if i want to avoid rubbing, can i adjust my camber and also install hard springs?

adjust the chamber to negative / \ then you need to compromise on the tyre wearing off at the inner side ... but yet you may face the same problem at times duriing attacking at some sharp bends or corners especially when the road is uneven Or when you have passengers at the rear cabin ...

install hard springs ..how hard spring rate are you gonna get ...what's the current rate ?? may loose a little comfort ..

the current rate of my spring is not known... but i really wish to know.. my neighbour says that it could be the camber problem... i think i would rather loose a little comfort than to adjust the height of my rear...

anyway check the fender 1st .. you may be just a milimeter short , easy and cheaper solution would be just mere a hundred buck..that if you're gonna roll the fender out a little ... as for others the cost would vary from how far you wanna go ...etc replacing the springs , changing the tyre spec , tyre's getting worn out faster ... etc etc

Bong, before anything else, when was the last time u did your alignment? Since u just slapped on some nice PS3 at the rear, best do the alignment first. Make sure the tyre shop familiar with E46. I only know E90 rear camber adjustment need super long size 17 wrench. Not every tyre shop has it.

When u do the alignment go see the reading on the machine. Ask the foreman to explain to u the readings. I only look at toe in, and camber. Refer to the link I posted in page 1 for u. Those are recommended figures, they may not get it 100%, agak2 will do. Pay attention to your rear camber. If u see positive camber, all your problem solved! Set it to negative 1.34 and u are all set! All this suspension hardening, fender rolling and what not are meant for extreme moders.. we newbie best stay stock to avoid tweaking the wrong things.

If you are already at negative 1.3, then u may ask for say -1.6, I think that's max. For your info, some of us are running -2.0 :D

If that couldn't solve, I'll take u to a place that do fender rolling using this:
13316_10150173484535007_321546780006_11769170_5037483_n.jpg

bongyt2,
as what AB said, go chk your camber first, then decide next action...btw, whats your offset for the rear? (remove the rims and look at the inner part for something that says 'et' example et30...
worst case, adjust your camber to -2 deg and rotate your rear tyres at every 6000 (ps3 is non directional tyres..so you can rotate without dismounting the tyres)

AB, which tyre shop offer this fender rolling service?

Last time i asked a famous tyre shop in JB to roll my fender, the boss said e39 too solid to roll, only can cut the interior fender instead of fender rolling..:stupid:

bongyt2, sometime the tyre sidewall design also a cause to the rubbing problem. This happen to me when i use Yokohama ES100.

AB, I have done alignment few days back. In the morning later, I will do the camber adjustment because it is really terrible. I am posting the pictures in a moment. The camber adjustment at Batu Caves there is quite professional as they are doing especially for BMW/Benz/Alphard/Estima... They charge me RM35 per side. Is it worth it doing camber for this price?

Bro, I will ask them to adjust my camber... but I am going to get heart broken for my new set of tyres cause it will makan my inner tyres... i was hoping it can have flat surface instead of / \... lol

guys,

how do i post pictures? I don't know how... lol... sorry for the lame and stupid question...

Here will teach u how to load photo: http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27090

How come when u do alignment they never tell u camber lari meh? Normally tyre shop will fast fast ask you to fix if camber lari and they will show u the reading, both your current reading and the recommended reading. When do camber, alignment will lari and need to redo alignment. Go back to the same shop and demand FOC on alignment lor otw, u need to pay alignment again.

AB,
That time when doing alignment, they got tell me camber lari.... hahaha... they ask me to do camber but the guy who ask me to do camber has no manners so i ask him to do alignment only.. the alignment is FOC cause I changed the whole set of tyres. I didn't know now that if doing camber will cause the alignment to lari... cham liaw.... later at 10am i will be doing camber adjustment. hopefully it will stop rubbing...

Bro... Here are the pictures...

IMG_0001.jpg

This is the rubbing rear tyre... (Driver side)

IMG_0002.jpg

This is the other rear tyre.. (Passenger side)

As you can see from the pictures, the driver side and the passenger side is totally diff...

Lol, AB... Hahaha... I think there is something wrong with the camber first of all... and second it could be the spring...
