Serjit, if you are going to make it an individual E38 then the colour must be outrageous enough to make a strong statement. I would suggest original BMW Colour "Chyene" that was on my previous E32.

It has begun......

As I type this car being stripped for painting!!! Yes, I decided whilst the interior is completely bare and waiting for the seats and parts painted, to undertake external paintjob. Also decided to change the colour  Man this job started off as something small and over the past few days has quickly grown into a monster!!!

Colour choices = Crystal White, Tangerine, Burnt Orange, Vivid Blue, Pearl Black, Gunmetal.

I have made my decision after serious contemplation and time spent at the sprayer. Here's your chance to vote.....what colour would you choose to complement an E38 and make it look one of a kind????

Paintjob will take 18 days. So likely that my baby will only be ready mid June :motz:

Sorry, off topic a bit.

care to share one of your pics with "Chyene" color on it? I am also contemplating of which color to convert my e32 into. Cheers.

Update,

Car is now being preped for spraying. All external parts are out and minor dents etc being fixed.

Colour choice = keeping mum for now. All I can say it that is going to be real aggresive with the E38 curves and am trying out something bold with the dated door/bumper trims. Wish me luck

Now for ICE. Anyone heard of KK Lau? I am planning to remove the ori BMW RDS Business stereo, make a custom bracket and fit a 2 DIN player in its place. Quite irritated with the constant failure of my CD changer!!!! This way, I dont need to worry if the BMW RDS kaputs in time, can always fix the aftermarket 2 DIN. I had a look at my panel today and there does not seem to be any blockers to removing the system. There is ample room in the back to fit a 2 DIN with the right bracket and holster in place. Wiring? I think this should be simple, as I do not intend to amp it any further and use the ori speakers. Till will keep it as ori as possible apart from the head unit. Can this be done?

Rgds - S

I've heard of KK Lau. Quite a big shop somewhere in PJ, behind the Tmn Bahagia LRT station right? If that's the one, got lots of goodies there...

2 din? Won't that remove your OBC? I was contemplating removing my RDS (cassette player) and replacing it with a single screen / DVD player... Let me know how it goes with KK Lau.

Good luck on your respray... can't wait to see it in its new color scheme..... dang... makes me wish I'd change color on mine...

Bro - thats the one. I have never used them nor visited them before. But their website is pretty decent and have been recommended that they are the best customisers for high end cars.

Now if you remove the cassette player, will your player still work? I believe they are connected. I dont have OBC on my model, therefore one less headache to consider  And is the OBC really needed? My other car has similar OBC and in fact more detailed than in the BMW. But I hardly ever use it

Only concern is wiring and whether there is a need for an amp? I understand the RDS stereo is with a built in amp. Otherwise there is no way such pristine sounds can come out from such a player. Im no expert, but thats my guess.

Man, I am taking a big risk on colour scheme.....however can visualise how it will look. Worst case scenario, respray la!!!! heheheheee, by then I would also need a lawyer to help sort out the mrs!!!!!:smokin: hehehehehe....on the forum can say la, at home like good boy only :slug:

Cheerio

I'm not too sure about the wiring and how the RDS fits in into the whole scheme of things. I got the cassette player right on top (with a small coin box), the main audio unit (radio / CD / clock / OBC) in the middle and the digital aircon at the bottom. Only the cassette player is the regular "DIN size". Anyone got any ideas? (Sorry to tumpang your thread bro...)

That's the excitement of a new paint job / color scheme. You can't go wrong with any of the colors you listed, plus the car is in good hands.

Bro, my set up exactly like yours. I am contemplating getting rid of the cassette player and the radio. This way it will fit a 2 DIN player nicely.

InitialM has done this and I have been in touch with him. Once I have more details will buzz u. Otherwise, can pay KK Lau a visit soon

Thanks on the colour reassurance bro!

I think the E38 stripped and this front view is just mean. Don't you think this is such a great looking car.....

I visit my car daily, sometimes twice a day for the past week!! I miss it and want to ensure all goes well. The sprayer, interior specialist and detailer are awesome and providing really great advise and guidance along the way. Not forgetting all forumers and sifu's alike. This is the 1st time undertaking such a project, feelings are very mixed........
