Hi. Tyres finally wore out . Looking to change my fugly original 17"s to 18"s off a 528i (who traded them in to 20"s).

Tee at Hupshun told me to stick to the 17's unless I;m going to change the springs also as the gap to the fender is going to increase by a lot (more than 5 fingers gap according to him).

Any thoughts ?

what matters is the outer diameter of the tyre/rim combo.
if your current fender gap is acceptable, then get an 18" wheel with a suitable aspect ratio to maintain the overall diameter with your 17" .....

there are many tyre size calculator for you to mix and match the preferred tyre/rim combo....http://tire-size-conversion.com/tyre-size-calculator/

My 520i is on 245/45/R18 (front) and 275/40/R18 (rear) same like 528i. No issue so far so I guess you can change your 17" to 18" rim.

Cool. Thanks Lucas271.
Notice any performance degradation because of the larger tyres ?

Not at all..... very stable and good for cornering in fact!
Note - Changing tyre (RFT) best to do it in SGP. Can save easily 30% compare to M'sia.

Great! I'm convinced. Any penalty at the pumps though ? Mileage decreased ?
From my previous post in F10 520i fuel consumption:-

After driving my 520 for 3 mths, with full tank ~ 70L my car can reach ~850KM which 70% hwy drive and 30% city drive.
Tried once before 90% hwy drive 70L can reach ~950km. Drive not more than 120 km/hr and light foot when accelerating plus constant speed via cruise control.
Note - this is base on "comfort plus' mode and temperature of 24C.
