Dear forumers, been searching for a e34, and came across one 520 M50 1994 with mileage 400,000 km. One concern i had in mind, is the high mileage be a potential threat to the car, or my wallet? Is there any health issue (of the car/engine) regards the high mileage? Has anyone got experience with a car with this kind of mileage care to share experiences, which parts need to closely monitored, which part needs to be replaced etc2?Actually i prefer e34 525 but just would like to hear from all sifus here first pertains this one. Thanks all !

Hi fikrian...400kkm..high mileage not necessarily high in maintenance provided the car is well taken care by the current owner, asked the current owner has the gear box been changed/overhaul? If not, it will get you soon..

Hi anakin..roger that. apart from gearbox, does any other part require changeout/overhaul once reaches this mileage? ahh me so noob! =)

i suggest u give the 520 a skip and head on to the 525

being a 1994, it would definately be a single vanos...however get a m50b25 24v, ...guaranteed satisfaction.

if u still insist on getting this 400k specimen, no issue...just ensure u have a proper service record from the prev owner...a possible overhaul? top overhaul? vanos seal replacement? undercarriage bushes/suspensions? do also get a compression test and radiator pressure test done by a known bmw workshop and check for any fault codes that may creep up through the modic. all these will basically give u a rough idea on how much u need to spend on this car.

cheers...happy hunting...dun always settle for the cheapest..most of the time it doesnt "pay" in the end. it could cost u more to do up than to actually buy a decent unit in the first place.

I must say that the cheapest is not always the best solution. Pick a decent one with complete service history from the direct owner n most importantly is the spec of the ride you are vying on..or else you would have to spend more on the car later on..happy hunting

my dad have a e34 525i single vanos..location penang..

if u like to view his car..u can sms me 017.401.5724

thank u
