wheel alignment and tyre balancing

i was quoted 700 + ringgit for tyres balancing and alignment for my F30 320d. by BMW service centreIs that the normal charges for BMW cars ? seem a bit expensive to me.Can these be done by normal tyre shops ?i

AB Sg Besi SC advised me to send my car to Tan & Tan Auto Tyre Sg Besi for balancing and alignment as they will sub-con the job to them. Charged 200+ for that.

MPS Auto in Sunway did an excellent job on my E38. Less than RM200. Well worth it.

I did mine at tyre workshop. RM30 for alignment and RM20 for wheel balancing. No issue at all.

Yes they do, if you notice you would see five small holes on your rims. That is where they will mount their alignment sensors and stuff. But honestly, so far MPS Auto in Sunway has been fantastic in their alignment services. A lot of members go there. They take a while but they really know their stuff, they know all the specs for the BMW models, what tolerances and what recommended range. Compared to the other normal alignment and cheaper shops, all they do is just align until they see the machine shows green and consider it aligned.

I did once at quill jp without asking the price. Only get shocked when seeing the bill; RM450 alignment + camber adjustment. They show me the comprehensive pre&post result. I'm very impressed with the end result which I believe they have very accurate calibration on their machine & software. If you are not satisfied after numerous trials at outside shop, it may worth to give it a try at SC.

How often do you need to do wheel alignment ? I was advised by tyre shop to do it every 8000 km .

I usually do cross balancing once every 5,000 km. Hence, alignment is also done at the same time.

For me Speedline did a good job. They did my F30, P2 & T brand. Very satisfied. Downside is too slow. Good part : no need alignment or balancing for 1 year.
But now i give biz to Simon @ Yan Shang SS2. Relatively cheaper tyre price. But no comment so far on balancing/alignment

Last time, before they moved to the bigger shop, there's one guy Ah Meng. He is superb. After balancing and alignment done by him, the car feels like it is riding on new suspension. Pity, he moved to a new shop in Sg Buloh. Yet to check it out.
