Seek advice from Sifu and BMW Gurus,Many have lowered their ride with performance springs and I hope all Gurus and Sifu can advice what should we do after that?Normally we to send our ride for the followings1. Wheel Alignment2. Chamber adjust to -1.3 left and -1.2 right (Rear)The BMW front wheel's chamber cant be adjust without adding the chamber kit, therefore come to the advice of Sapura Auto that Chamber Kit is dangerous as it is not part of BMW design and will alter the ride dynamic and safety of the car.Your kind advice please... p.s. No stupid and Sarcastic post PLEASE... I cant find any advice in the forum thats why I post new. Thanks

Camber kit - depends on which kit. HOw much are you lowered and what camber does it sit at currently?

Shims and offset bolts are a no-no. Adjustable camber plates on the strut top are the best. In fact, stronger than oem. They're a bugger to align tho, depending on it's specific design whether the toe angle changes with camber.

I see you've already renewed your essential bushes, good work. Next step is get uprated, matching shocks for your springs... these will make the most difference to any gains you'll likely get from all this, otherwise it will be all looks only and harsh ride.

All in all, a very expensive job to do "properly". The results will be amazing tho.

Excellence reply.. Appreciate it so much.

From what I understand above..

New Sport Spring paired with ori Absorbers = Harsh and noisy ride
New Sport Spring paired with sport Absorbers = expensive chamber correction but superb ride if done properly

Any other way to adjust the chamber without using the chamber kit?
Many didnt installed the chamber kit after changing their spring, is that OK?

Geoffrey,

When u lowered your ride, u may want to consider adjusting your headlamps' beam as well coz they might be shorter now :) the best way to measure this is, take the pattern and beam length b4 lowering and try to adjust back to the same after lowering.

I found a set of Eibach therefore plan to install it tomoro and therefore to ask for advice prior to do the installation.

Thanks for the kind tips on the headlamps.

Aprreciate it a lot...

Lowering up to 40mm without camber correction is kind of acceptable, but there will be very slight drawbacks such as inner wear on tyres and increased bump steer on the fronts and inconsistent contact patch. By acceptable I mean not the best solution but given the budget concept, it can be lived with la... Any more than 40mm lowering without correction most will start to wonder if it was even worth it. Given the E36 doesn't have much suspension travel to start with, taking >40mm off without good shocks or correction to setup would be a lot of loss in capability from the compromise.

Hope that helps! :top:

Thanks Bro..

Will keep this in mind.

Got my car done at BMW auth centre..

Front chamber -1.5 Left -1.4 right
Rear chamber -1.6 left -1.5right

tyre pressure is 33psi front and 35psi rear

rear will have slight toe in setting for better cornering.

pray for the best that you dont meet any humps on the road at high speed and break ur oil pan XD

    Damm... forgot about that!!

Thanks for the kind advice bro, will be extra careful

Don't worry about the oil pan too much, if you go over big bumps, you will most likely be scraping the bottom at the catalytic converter and/or exhaust piping, also your side skirts, and also the undercarriage...

So, pls take good care of your bottom, and go sideways slowly through huge speed humps, especially when you are carrying a lot of passengers with huge bottoms (pun intended)... :p

By the way, I think there is a department in all the local town/municipal/city councils that does nothing except building huge speed humps... you know what I call them... "humping department"... hahahaha :D

Hahaha... LCP and Chriseunos you both are great!

By the way, I was testing out my car today sat behind for a ride. I felt the hashness and do you think putting back the ori spring will make the car look funny?

Geoff... better go get a decent set of shocks to match with the springs.
Changing the springs... changes your cars dimensions hence u need to becareful.

Ori springs on the back alone will not only look funny, but will

a) tilt your centre of gravity towards the front (bad handling, unsteady braking)
b) cause you to understeer like a biatch coz the rear is softer than the front

Get those shocks sorted will be much better. Now, it probably bounces up/down hence the harshness... coz the old shocks aren't doing the job they're supposed to do.
