this is that things.. hope i do it rite

Could be a seal or snap ring, hard to tell the material or size/scaling from your picture. But anything like that falling out in the oil has gotta be a bad thing.

Given that you have two oilpans, you have the GM-built A4S270R/310R gearbox... and if the ring came from the front smaller pan, then it could be one of the parts in the diagram below. I'd guess it is the bigger ring, as it has those "dimples" like in your picture. But I could be completely mistaken too

yes, it is a GM's.. that ring type thing, circular with outside diameter 5.6cm and ring width about 6mm and thickness 1.5mm..
now i'm getting worried if i can continue driving or i do need to looks for a transmission specialist... i'm very appreciate if somebody can recommend me any transmission mechanic...

hey guys, a quick question on the ATF. i recently got meself an E39 and would like to know what brand of ATF to use and how many litres do i need when i change it. nothing in my Owner's Manual says anything about ATF...which i find to be rather odd.

E46 uses Esso LT71141, not sure about E39, actually the manual didnt state anything about ATF because BMW ask u never to change it (its a lifetime oil as they claim and required no changes..........., change gearbox only later, :D ) i think yours should be around 8 litre. anyway, all of us change it and never follow BMW recommendation, so far never hear any member's gearbox kaboom after changing, only hear they vroommm......vroommmmmmmm only
