What is the cost of repairing the E34 GM gearbox in K.L ??

Helo guys ... jez wanted to know what is the reasonable price for a labor charge to repair a gearbox in K.L ???I have a problem with my E34 GM gear box where all the clutches are thin and some of them are broken and at the same time i decided to overhaul them all by buying a new set of repair kit . one of the famous mechanic in Kota Bharu guaranteed me to fix it up with minimum chances of faulty and he charge me RM650 as a labor charge and how was that...???Just wonder

Total cost of overhauling including labour and new parts cost how much?

usually it's a combined package of labour and parts to do it around Rm3500.00 or less... can say much about labour cos parts may costs RM2600.00 alone....

just my take on my e28 4HP22 gearbox in 2007....

well for that opinion and i already sent my baby to workshop for an overhaul the gearbox.....waiting...repair kit only cost me about RM700.00

Yusri, from their quote and yours, I find labour is reasonable (K.Bahru cheaper than K.L), but I see vast difference of cost of parts 1.3k vs 3.5k.

Are you sure your mechanic is doing a complete overhaul of the g/box, or he just quoted you the parts cost which he thinks deem to be replaced?

Thanks to all coz lead me to a real charges of my E34 gbox overhaul ....and yesterday my e34 was discharged and total cost is about what am i going to calculate in here...a set of repair kits is cost me Rm750 + 10 bottles of ATF RM350 + Labor charge and a few second hand stuff replaced as a clutch housing , converter and a few more little things cost me only RM800 and calculated comes with this much = Rm1900.00 only......

And for info i witness my self this foremen did everything as fully overhaul the gearbox into peaces ....and = smooth gear changing from 1st to top gear....walaaaa....

urm..........manual tired la when stuck in traffq jm...i own a manual e34, the cluth pedal so heavy...like lori...is it normal or there a part needed to be change

errmmmm bro....i used a manual gb before and its will happen like that when the clutch fluid is need to be drained and change or refill.....try and see.....

can we change the cluth fluid DIY or need a mechanic to do it be?? how much will it cost?? also its sound krekkk....krekkkk..... each time i push and release my cluth pedal. pomen said need to change part and everythg and will coast rm 500 to rm 600.true ahh??

a great price tag considering the work of gearbox ain't cheap here in KL ...everyone seems to tagging a high price tag when comes to gearbox these days ... perhaps you foreman could be highly recormended ...even if we could despatch him here to KL to do the work ...

Very very subjective... would mainly depend on the problem itself, parts and the workshop that does the repairs/replacements.

Would be good to do your homework of calling some of these places.

It all depends on what type of overhaul.

For this price you paid, he probably only change the o ring set. With the Clutch pack it will cost slightly more than 1k just for the repair kit. And if it's a ori ZF repair kit it will be about 1200 (the last time I bought one).

Anyhow, it has worked out well for you. Kudos to the mechanic
