Buddies,Anyone knows that it is really true that tyre pressure monitoring in i drive is off when u are on a wheel other than OEM wheel. i am on ac snitzer wheel. If thats the case how would i know whether my tyre pressure is ok or not?Appreciate.

I'm now on non-oem rims and the tyre pressure monitor still works..

I believe the system works off the sensors monitoring each wheel's rotational speed so I really doubt that changing to a non-oem wheel will render the tyre pressure monitor inactive. So it's unlike the aftermarket tpms systems where there really is a sensor either in wheel or at the tyre valve.

Thanx bro shlim....got to check further...i realised my tyre look almost flat yesterday with no warning sign came up on the monitor...and when i pumped in the air to the wheel...the pressure reading started with 150kpa which is way below from the recommended pressure...i was just curious why no warning sign came up despite the drop in pressure and only realised when the tyre looks almost really flat....phewww

Still works on my BBS as usual...last week the tire pressure loss indicator pops out when my rear tire hit a nail...

Bro,

U must be proud with your bbs ...huhuhu:listen:

Maybe you did not reset the tyre pressure monitor when you changed your tyre/rim?

Yup,the system needs to be reset/re-initialized after u've pumped air into your tyres. And yes,the system functions by comparing each individual wheel/tyre rotational diameter so logically should work with any wheel brands.

Not proud when your tire burst while on d way back home from replacing all new tires...that day I have to pay for 5 tires! :stupid:

Maybe all 4 lost pressure slowly and simultaneously so there is no rotational speed difference between one compared to all the rest.

Out of curiousity, how did you burst a brand new tire ?

Good point, I forgot to mention that... system needs to be reset after u change tires or add air to individual tires.

Had to do that all too often lately.... 1 crack rim, then got snooked with a replacement rim that turned out to be welded and subsequently leaked... finally gave up and changed all 4 rims... The tire pressure warning system has been very useful

Hit a nail on d highway suddenly hear a 'pop'....iDrive display showing tire pressure loss and stopped at the roadside to see whats happen but too bad because of the rear low profile tires the inner side walls have been torn badly...i believe the 'pop' sound indicating sudden air pressure release and my tires immediately deflate and the rims destroyed the tires....

My lesson learnt is always bring a spare tire whenever you on non-RFT tires coz things happen without any warning...even TPMS can't save u....lesson learnt HARD WAY!!!

kolamp, what tyre are those? How huge is the nail? did u check the manufacturing date of those tyre? cannot claim meh?

Im on Conti CSC 5P 275/30/19...manufacturing date around end 2010...didnt find any nails actually but a big hole bout pencil size found on d tire...i just suspect something sharp like nails poke it thus pressure was released immediately...Cant claim cause they said its not their fault...haishhhh!

The dilemma that faces all e90 owners who decides to go non-RFT.. to 'spare tyre' or to 'repair kit'.As Kolamp rightfully pointed out,if u shred one of your tyres,a repair kit will be useless.BUT bring a spare tyre around, you'll lose luggage space.

How?

Currently repair kits always in my boot but going to get space saver spare tire so that I can bring along on long journey for peace of mind....shredding 19" tires at hometown is not easy for you to find the correct tire sizes over there...Not only at village, even in Bangi also is hard to find 19" tires around...
