Hi everyone, I own a 2012 F10 528i Msport (ckd). Mileage 138k kms. Car in perfect condition so far. No more warranty.I still send the car for the regular service at Auto Bavaria every 10k kms. So far my transmission oil has never been changed before. I have asked Auto Bavaria KL to change the transmission oil at my cost but they refuse, saying that the F10 transmission oil is life long and need not be changed. I don't believe this theory at all. So far the the 8 speed ZF transmission in the F10 is superb without any problems. I wish to change the oil but Auto Bavaria saying no need. Of course of I were to send it to be replaced by outside mechanics they will happily replace the fluid. Just want to seek expert opinion here on whether you guys actually change the ATF fluid expecially when the car has already done 100k kms. Tq

U can opt for and change at authorized SC like Ingress, Quill or WheelCorp Premium bro. If not, there are also quite a number of independent mechanics that has done the change before. Choice is urs bro.

For my case, mine is a parallel import. did my ATF change at 90k km. pity photobucket blocked my access otherwise u can see how dirty the ATF is.....

what transmission oils can i use for auto transmission please..
bmw oil very expensive...any alternatives please?

Spoke to Auto Bavaria KL senior service advisor / chief mechanic. BMW Malaysia does not advocate any maintenance transmission oil change for all its modern BMWs as it is termed “lifetime fill” ATF . Few cases that had occurred previously where customers requested for transmission oil change and the gearbox behaved erractically after the oil change ...rough gear changes occurred and BMW had to replace the entire transmisson ( new one cost around RM 40K).
Now if the customer still insist on changing the gear oil BMW will do so but customers will be made to sign a declaration letter to state that BMW will not be responsible for any malfunction of the gearbox after the oil change. This seems difficult to believe but I guess this is what is happening . Acording to Auto Bavaria they will do gear oil change or reprogramming of the transmission only if there is any problem. Maybe we should find out from other BMW dealers if they are practicing the same. By the way I was quoted RM1.5K by German motors for the ATF change , include labour and new oil pan. Advised to use only original BMW transmission oil .

I asked my SA before and he says there’s no need to change ATF as it’s Long life ATF so I’ll just stick to that recommendation.

Hi, my 528i just changed the ATF at Ingress. Total costs about RM2,500, filter is not required to change as advised.

Wow!! Whats the mileage of ur ride bro? Why did the SC advised such?

For half the cost, u cld hv changed ATF n filter, including labour at a specialist workshop

Agree with bro Gendong. I bought the ZF Fluids for RM84 per bottle and i used 5.5 bottles. The gearbox pan + filter should be changed during the first oil change. Can't remember the cost of the oil pan (which comes with the filter). But definitely a far cry from Rm2.5K.

Mileage was 73,000 km. I was charged at RM334.30 (-8%)/liter of 7 liters ATF 3+ and labour at RM200.00 + GST = RM2,494.07.

Can recommend any workshop in KL? Thank you.

I bought 6 litres of ZF ATF (RM45 per litre) and get it changed at Jln Kuchai for RM40.
