Trans Failsafe Prog

faced with the same problem when i first got my car 1 year plus back ... had to rebuild my GB and overhaul my torque converter...

there are many possibilities for the 'trans fail safe mode' to appear ... perhaps its best to get second opinion before jumping to conclusion that its the GB fault...

finally had to send the car to Bomin as now I have NO REVERSE gear!

Funny had to push the perfectly running engine out of the parking lot today haha...

A quick search on the net showed the reverse drum or hub is broken. This is the achilles heel of the 5HP19 gbox they say.

So guys, when you reverse, be gentle and try not to put additional strain on the reverse gear such as a full passenger/load while reversing or reversing uphill. Do that often..then the reverse hub will wear out faster.

There is a thicker reverse hub on ebay but I am no mechanic to advise further.. as the 'box still has to be dismantled which i saw involves a lot of work and time..sigh

Bomin guys will take the 'box down tomorrow and will let me know what's the problem. In any case they will still need to send the 'box to a specialist. Told him if he could save me any $$ please do so. I hope it is just the sensors and the reverse hub...not the dreaded torque converter. But if it is the TC then..no luck...big hole is imminent to my bank...haihhh

thanks aidilj but I like automatic..lazy man haha..

car now at M-Scope Bt Caves with Mr. Hong...see what will he find tomorrow...

Bomin John told me the ATF smells burnt and very dark almost black...but decided to send to M Scope after all..
