hi guys... need your input on this -went to change my absorbers & springs to bilstein & eibach respectively... think i may have been ripped-off.am i correct to say that all eibach springs would come with the "eibach" logo?after i collected my car, all i can see on the springs is this line printed -"MI HOLLAND TERRA 15-016 REAR". any idea whether this is eibach?and i was charged RM1,300 for them (4 pcs). the workshop insists that it is eibach.feel extremely frustrated and like an idiot now... also beginning to doubt whether my absorbers are really bilsteins. any way to tell as well?

Don't be frustrated. There is always the small claims tribunal to recover your losses. But first, you must gather the facts and not throw away any items like the packaging and receipts.

There is a company called Terra and they sell it under their own brand name. Unless Eibach is an oem manufacturer for Terra.

i feel your pain man! that really sucks!

go do the small claims tribunal thingy- ask the forum guys for help to do this. the workshop fellas will piss in their pants when they are gonna be sued!!get your refund and damages!!

See here http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/tyre-shop-issues-t9397.html?t=9397

Another forummer filed a complaint at the tribunal for his tyres and kicked the dealer into action.

But you must have solid documentation, such as :

1. Does the receipt says "Eibach" springs?
2. Did you keep the package? Does the package says Eibach springs or Terra springs?
3. Did you install the "terra" springs? It would be better if you haven't
4. Check the eibach website to get the correct part number for your application and cross check against the springs and the packaging.

That why I always be there when repairing / servicing my car...I'll wait even till all day long..never let my car alone with the mech...even my trusted one!!!

Why...?
- to see exactly what he's been doing, not just saying change this & that
- TLC..show your car that you care about her..she got feeling you know..
- able to learn one or two things about your car....doesnt mean you have to be a foreman...get your hand dirty, you'll gain something..

Bro, are the springs in RED color? What I know.. Terra is Terra .. Eibach is Eibach .. no such thing is Terra is Eibach

How does the car feel after the suspension job?

I'm not one to advocate the cheating of customers, but I'd be interested to find out whether the Terra springs are at least roughly equivalent in price, quality and performance to Eibachs. If they are, well, then I wouldn't feel so bad.

Agreed with wglee....if the Terras feel ok..then shouldn't feel so bad, it's not end of the world..:) you cannot get eibach cheaper than that oso and it performance is not to everybodys' liking oso...tak caya tanya 535i & zoggee!!!

But isn't the point that the OP specifically asked for eibachs and was told eibachs were installed, when in reality they were NOT eibachs. This is MISREPRESENTATION at best and CHEATING/FRAUD at worse.

I feel for you man! Go and find the eibach distributer in Malaysia and confirm with them these are/are not eibachs, then take the workshop to hell and back if you have been conned! Thats my opinion.

Official Eibach dealer is Jazz Auto. Eibach springs should have their part numbers with the alphabets EW XXXXXXXXXX, and KBA XXXXXXXX. At least thats what I saw on my eibach springs. And yes, the eibach logo is present as well.

That's provided they're actually Terras. As I mentioned in another thread, imitations abound in our market, sometimes side-by-side with originals. They might even show you an ori and then fit an imi. That's how workshops, even reputable ones, make money. I would say that these days it's never a good idea to use an aftermarket workshop you don't know well. Never be a walk-in customer, attracted by a seemingly good deal.

If this workshop insisted they're Eibachs but they have Terra markings, they don't seem to be very honest on the surface to say the least. So you have to wonder. :(

The eibach are in black color only with some metallic sputtering on it...only black not other color...& ...some shipment come with 3 quarter 2 piece of window sticker but that depend..as Eibach also produced in Japan (come with installation instruction, Eibach from germany(white box) eibach black box are from US. the box, ask them to show you the box.by then they could just show you the box from other installation...go claim your consumer right..

keep us inform of your prgress bro. thanks.

thanx for all the advise & encouragement guys...

i've been back to the workshop and clarified matters again - according to the fella, the terra springs are apparently produced by eibach as well (according to his supplier). but that's not the point is it? he insisted that they were eibach springs initially till i pushed further.

anyway, he will be changing the springs to eibach for me. the question is - any particular model number i should insist on? for the price of rm1300 that i paid?

on some of your queries on the ride with terra - it feels very hard and "bumpy" to me. or that could be because i'm on 17" rims!

wouldn't mind letter some of the sifus here testing out my ride and giving me some advise actually... any takers?

Being one of the biggest, Eibach could very well be OE manufacturers for other companies. Why don't you go to the official Eibach dealer to find out more about Eibachs? ALBundy says it's Jazz Auto. You shouldn't trust what this workshop tells you anymore since they didn't level with you until you pressed them :(

As for the hard ride, Eibachs are performance springs, so the ride is bound to be stiffer than stock springs. Try to choose the model with the best compromise between performance and ride comfort. Best to browse their website or talk to Jazz Auto. Good luck bro! :)

Terra is hard but if u really need a performance spring - go for this. Otherwise, try to swap with anyone running Eibach but tinks Eibach is soft ...

Just had Eibachs installed. Found them to be slightly harder than standard springs but still comfortable nonetheless. And yeah, got rid of that wheel space in which a cat could sleep in...:D
