Posting on behalf of a friend, he has a E60 520i which I think has a M54B22. He is considering superchipping or remapping his ECU for more oomph. Anyone know where can this be done in KL and how much improvement in BHP & Torque can we get with this engine?. How much $$ too. Thanks in advance.....

bro,
Before you get into this ECU thingy, try this first.

The torque & bhp remained the same but significant improvement in the throttle response. You feel like driving a different car, "felt lighter", responsive and gave you the 'impression' that you are having a much powerful car. Overall, driveability improved!
Trust me,......you will still feel the difference even blind folded:D

p/s: I'm not selling this stuff, just in case you are wondering........just sharing the experience of a very satisfied user

Yes, I had mine fixed and I know there are two 525i (E39) and a 525i (E60) who have done it!
Like I said, you will feel the difference even blind folded!

Thanks Jerman.

Looking forward to experience the new era of throttle response.

Anyway how much did it cost you?

the sprint booster is good.. just wonder if it hurts the engine in terms of fueling..

bro,
You meant fuel consumption? As for me, I lost about 0.5km per litre if heavy footing but once you get used to the throttle, it almost go back to the original fuel consumption rate.............like Kevster has mentioned before,
"You play, You pay" ;)

sprint booster - time for a little action.
in the guise of adolescent rush.......ooooh haa.

superchip

Sifus

I spoke to to Linonel and he quoted me RM 2K+. for the superchip.

I spoke to GT auto and they said that SMT3 can work both open and closed loop.RM 2K plus dyno tune. Not too sure on which option but theGT Auto option for piggyback seems interesting.

Any commnets?

Thanks

Oh and to add on. did a dyno on my car and got 138 bhp on wheel and 19kg or otrque.

Put in the Motosport division air filter and god stuff man. Fuel consumption imporved 50km per tank. Response also improved. Highly recommneded. This is the BMC copy. If you ask me, go for it. No extra cabin noise.

Guys,

I just checked with on the ECU remapping for mine. According to the shop the ECU remapping is available only for the E39 models after 1998 as the OBD tool applicable for those models onwards. Mine is 1996 model so I have to fly kite. Anyway FYI it costs around RM2800 including installation and tuning.

Uhhuuuuhhhhh...

Anyway is there any body else who has fixed this in their older models or any other shops that has OBD for 1996 onwards???

BTW the shop I hecked was Automotive Energy S/B in Damansara Intan, next to Taman Megah in PJ.

Bro.. have you tried Ah Yu 019-3197453? Give him a call.. he just got back from Taiwan yesterday.. Besides, I think 2.8k is a little on the high side.. Cheers! :)
