Hi All,My e90 has engine oil leak issue. I have sent it to fix in AB Tun Razak for 5 times but it isn't solved. The initial leak was at the solenoid valves but when they fixed it, they also replaced the engine cover gasket which has no leak originally. Since then, I have sent back to them 5 times. In the last time which was last week, they replaced engine cover that they ordered from German in front of my eyes because they suspected hairline cracks in the original cover that is made of plastic material. Look like I'll have to send in for the 6th time next week. Judging from the look and conversation with the mechanic, it seems that they don't have a clue what to do next.View attachment 31857Does anybody here experienced the same before? I believe this is common problem and can be easily solved by replacing the gasket. Maybe I am wrong, any advice will be much appreciated. ThanksRegardsYS

did you check the engine oil's dipstick? did the engine oil show any signs of decrease?

Yes, engine oil reduced by a liter after 2-3 weeks. Never checked the engine oil's dipstick though, I thought there is none.
My UDM is Year 2007/2008 320i pre-LCI but can't remember the engine code.

a liter? dude thats a lot... my advice if it is really that serious, u should get 2nd opinion, send your car to other reliable workshop to check.

hehe.. I'm not alone..

N46B20.. 156HP variant, no CCV, no dipstick and can't retrofit dipstick coz oil sump no CCV hose inlet, valve cover breather hose connects direct to intake manifold..

Mine was +1L every 2 tank of fuel for this 6 years old car, at 90k km mileage. Compression test reveal nothing wrong coz valve seats and piston rings still working. No obvious white smoke, no wet tail pipe, no oil stain in coolant.

Most workshop won't do the job and recommend top overhaul that cost 2~3k, SC quoted me RM4,999.

Good luck!

AB,

After valve seals replacement, does engine still consume lube oil or has it been rectified?

So far so gud.. been 17 days now.. my digital oil gauge still show full.

After the job, I added 1L to make sure it's full and change oil filter too.. the old filter been more than 10k km. No oil change coz been topping up every 2 weeks and almost 10L topped up d, so I presume oil still fresh.. plan to change oil in another 5k km's time.

Yesterday took it out for a drive to Carey island to makan seafood and visit the new Amverton Golf Resort, on the way there, oil gauge missing 1 quarter.. but on the way back, rempit a bit.. oil gauge back to full.. :4:

Still monitoring.. hence so far so gud..

How much is the valve seal and how much labour cost to change it?

In my case, there is visible oil leak at the side tray. I've asked the mechanic whom I known personally, the valve seals are fine and looks good. He is puzzles as to where the oil sip-page occurs since he has replace gaskets and engine cover.

AB,

Would you be kind enough to share with members here the name of workshop who did valve seals replacement for you? Sharing is caring.
