And so the problems begin.....About a couple of weeks ago I noticed that whenever I do a slow turn especially to the left,I feel this little thud midway thru the turn. It's especially apparent when I turn out of say a parking lot. It's not much but just a couple of thuds but it's getting me worriedAnd so I took the car to our local AB.The service guy hoists the car up,opens the protective plastic beneath the engine, gets a screw driver, pokes it around a few bushes, shakes my wheels to check if it's loose turns around, looks at me and says "your Active Steering got problem" of course to my disbelief :eek:And in all fairness,I must add that he did sit in the car, with the engine running, turned the steering from left to right a few times and said that he did feel a little thud too.Now I walk back to the counter and just to check what it would cost me just incase I do have to replace it and the kind lady tells me RM14,600 for the Active steering unit and RM550 for labour. She adds that it's quite a common problem with even the new E60s and that they have replaced atleast 3 units so far and since all these cars were under warranty they just replace them instead of trying to repair. My question is,if it's really a faulty Active steering unit, wouldn't it have indicated on the Idrive? And here's the funny bit,as I drove out of the workshop everything seems fine,no sound or feel of a thud I was maneuvering out but I can feel that it's slowly coming backCan you guys help me out on these please?I'd rather fix it before it gets worst.Where can I possibly go to get this rectified apart from AB? I wouldn't mind the drive down to KL if the need be.

had the same problem but not with an E60. My old faithful (W124) developed the same problem and was rectified locally. Its the bushing on the steering rod that has worn out. However it cud be different for an E60. If by any chance you are in Melaka, go to Seong Hoe BMW outlet and look for Hanafi. They will be able to give you a better, sincere and more reliable solution.

Thank you Dzul but Melaka is a little out of my way but then again we can never tell, can we?I was hoping for somewhere in KL but don't seem to get much help here.If it really is the Active Steering system acting up,wouldn't it indicate?I find their diagnosis a little far fetched la.

No worries Guna. If Melaka is a bit far, I will try and get you the number for the one in KL. There are 2 actually that handle Beemers well. One in Batu Caves and the other in Pandan Indah. I wil text you their number and you can call them for advice.

The one in Batu Caves would be so convenient for me but it really doesn't matter as long as they are reasonable and know what they are talking about,I'll find my way.You da man. Thanks bro

I thought I should tell that I had to pay RM374(plus tax) to get my car registered with AB.Although my car is a brand new import and not recond it's still considered a gray import since it's from Naza.

And I got a free car wash!!! I was so delighted. The most expensive carwash I've paid for....hahaha

There is much to be desired from AB services in Kuantan. Hope that the RM374 will be a worthy investment ....1consumer is smart and strong comsumer .....

The only reason I did that is because as BMW owner I'm left with no choice especially with a car like the E60.Unlike our friends in the Klang Valley and other major cities. You know la,hearing how these "so called high performance car"(pinjam ur quote ah) tends to just die on you in the middle of the road, atleast the damn thing would have a place to be towed to.As you know the AB here makes all BMWs other than the ones bought thru them look like outcasts and they even look at your car very reluctantly.

I've decided that if the whole service team here is not revamped or if there are no other high end workshops opens up in the near future,I'm going for a different make or change town....I like the town

...after what I have gone thru with the principal, i had reminded them that if their service side do not buck up, they will be faced with stronger and vicious resistance, that I assured them. They have agreed and promised to seriously looked into it and lets just see how fast and professional they response. I will personally see to it, I have the 'time' and resources to ensure that they do not give us sub-standard treatment for such high cost, period.
