I recalled reading a thread on this before...but not seem to find it...still...my latest car problem....the steering tends to wobble on uneven surface as if the tyre is on control over the steering.... did went to workshop to consult on this n did my own checkLower arm ball joint- still okantiroll joint - still oktie rod joint - not sure (can be the cause )lower arm bush - how to ensure it is okSteering rack- not quite sure, but the evry time alignment is done....they sure do tight it backAny other probable cause?comments welcomedregards

Bro, how to check ur lower arm bush? - if you jack ur car, u can see if there's a crack on the bush. it's normally visible.

Tie-rod, maybe but the prob will not come only at uneven roads.

There's also another factor that is - ur rims or tyres. what rims r u using? is it the correct offset? is it bengkok? are the tyres in good condition? no uneven surface?

me not driving an E36 so not sure about the offset etc.

u can try to figure it out urself but it'll take time I think.. good luck :D

for me , i have that before ,
but after i channge my tire no more like that , maybe is the tire size the last tire was 215/45/17and is the skinny cutting tire .now i have change to same size and fatter cuttingtype then ok . might not be the the same problem wit me . what size and tire you using ?

if anything else are ok ....

check tire pressure and tire type (brand).
Certain tire - follow the contour of the road ... eg FALKEN 512.

I think its known as tramlining.. Combination of type of tyres, and size/dimension of the front wheel/tyres will impact this. Many folks who opt for wider low profile front wheels will see greater tramlining effect..

More on tramlining

yep, mine too... Potenze GIII 40 Series...

my tire was
front side is dunlop donno what type , not a rotation tire
back side is yokohama es100

how fast were you travelling ? if it was above 80kmh when you experienced that , it could be wheel balancing and alignment thats off .. check it out as well

sorry guys, can't respond due to some tech. error on pc. Juz to make it up.

The rims that i am using probably a BBS(not sure about it) 17". Not sure how to calculate the offset. Rim repair was done early this year...for sure out of the question. the tire i am using is EP Tornado 215/45/17. Tire presurre is usually around 32 kPa. Wheel balancing and alignment done twice in this month alone.

but i might agree that the tire at times is toning according to the road, as i only felt the steer difference only at patchy and potsome roads as the groove are quite deep(something like potenza)...else where is ok. Absorber according to my mechanic is still in good condition.

still thanx guys...may the problem go away as the tire wears(if tramlining do occur)
