Yo guys,Need help here.. under hard cornering (may be extreme at times cause traffic light blinkin) usually at lefthand 90 degrees turn and on rough road surfaces... an odd noise will be emitted/heard... somewhat like a low groan friction... Checked ball joints, tie rods etc. no exceptions noted... changed P/S pump and repaired leakage of steering rack... what else... kindly advise... sound is coming from driver's side...

By the way.. the sound can be flet from the steering wheel.. a mild vibration.. feels like something is released... Sound will slowly dissipate after straighten...

Could be bad wheel bearings.

Best take your car to the workshop and replicate the symptoms to the mechanic.

Start your car, and turn the steering full to left or right. Easier to detect if the noise comes.......good luck.

please upate your model and series make...

very hard for us to advise you..

WELCOME TO THE CLUB..

Its a 318i E36, year 1997... for wheel bearings, what sort of symptoms besides an odd noise during hard cornering... Mech can't seem to locate where the sound is coming from... was advised to wait until it's more apparent to spot it...

Anyway, my power steering feels a little too light/vague... Is it normal for E36... Maybe tyres are over inflated?? Car is stock standard...

Bad front wheel bearings are easy to detect - jack the car up, spin the suspected wheel, (1) feel whether the nearest surrounding suspension assembly is vibrating and/or (2) listen to ascertain whether there is a roaring noise (similar to the noise made by military vehicles/heavy-duty 4WDs in motion, thanks to their knobbly tyres). If the answer is yes to either (1) or (2) or both, your bearings are shot and should be replaced.
