Well, i've read a past thread about the E36 having the same problem as mine but i just want to make sure as my model is different. I just did my car alignment, changed my cars' tie rod and ball joint (the right side) and steering boot. When i was braking at speeds of 80 or so, i could feel my wheels vibrating (both sides) thus causing my steering wheel to vibrate as well. Can anyone clarify this problem ? thanks!

hmm..the thing was that before it happened, there wasn't any of this problem haha.. warped discs means that they have worn out ?Anyways I'll go have it checked out with my mechanic..

Check your rotors, it could be warped. Next check if the steering coupling is worn, usually it's the rubber.

Lastly..check if the wheel nuts are tighten properly.

hmm..just confirmed with my mechanic that the disc brakes are worn out and the cost to replace the disc brakes are RM130 for each disc brakes, so both disc brakes for RM 260.

Previously i had the tie rod and ball joint problem with my car, and my mechanic added that with those problems, you won't realise that it's your disc brake problem as those were in connection to the vibrations as well.

Wadya all think ?

jeffreyewe: I've got my mechanic checked those before and they all seemed fine. Thanks for your advice!

glad tht ur mech got it rectified!

yes it is sometimes relative whn it comes to things like handling....in one way or another it somehow affects the other....weird bout tht huh?

while ur at tht also get ur wheel bearings checked out....it will also give out similar symptoms.

all the best and rgds,
-brad-

wheel nuts not tighten properly.... wow, that's is scary

hmm..seems like there are other factors contributing to the problem eh ? I'm gonna have my mech to check those things out too..i jes came back from a short drive..and i was testing out my ride..seems like the vibration only occurs at high speeds...over 80 or so..below that, the braking is fine and there are no vibrations. Some of my frens sed that if i dun drive too fast..then shud be ok and there is no need for a disc brake replacement.

hmm..what would it take to convert your rear drums into disc brake ? how much wud u nid ?

now the leading question on the "vibrating" feel resulting from a warped rotors (sorry-ar, jumpman. Borrow your thread, since it is related to the same topic)...... How critical is it to rectify this problem or is it relatively safe to continue driving with this problem if you don't always drive very fast?

Hi,

I have exactly the same prob. Got several mech to checks, all of them said is disc rotor warped. Got me searching high and low for replacemenet. (Some forummers here will recall how deseprate was my search then). When found, it cost a bomb. So decided to change the tyre first and see how it fare. Manage to reduce the vibration but a little bit only. Then just I am about to proceed to changing the disc, I decided to changed the brake fluid. Initially it did not reduce the vibration BUT after one blardy hard braking Voila! vibration gone. Not sure what happen but what the heck. Cost me RM25 only. So far so good.

Just my experience

wow..seems llike a miracle of some sort..lol lucky for u buddy..will note down ur problem and see if i can apply it to mine..thanks for sharing!
