Steering vibrating

Hi all,I'm experiencing some slight vibration on the steering on my 2.0 Valvy....it usually last for like 2 to 3 seconds everytime I accelerate from standing still....Any idea what is wrong? Maybe the control arm is due for replacement?Thanks!

Is the vibration in the form of your steering rim shaking up and down? As in vertical movements? And does it get worse during turns/cornering?

If so, it may be a bad bearing on 1 or both of your front wheels - if the bearing is badly worn the wheel can wobble on its axis (the hub). You can check this out by jacking the front of the car up, grab a hold of the front tyres with your hands and shake each of them hard (like as if you are grabbing hold of a person's shoulders and wringing the shite outta him). If the wheel that you are shaking (as aforesaid) wobbles, that wheel's bearing needs replacing.

Is there a rumbling noise (eg. like the sound of a military truck, thanks to the off-road tyres) when your car is on the move especially when you turn or take corners? That's anoher sign of worn bearings.

That noise is not there...guess might have been the control arms..

Hmmm, no noise? It might be the control arms after all.

Anyway, I hope you manage to fix the problem. Let us know the outcome so that we can watch out for ourselves if a similar problem affects our cars.
