part number 32306761571 Swivel Joint RM 325

labour cost RM 60 1 hour job.

Bro maybe you can try do your balancing and alighment on your wheel first and see will that the case cause you car steering automatically pull to left n right... If you don't fix the problem, it sure will harm full your pocket too later not only your car lol....

WOW this one is a killer... maybe an alternative but i think better get the parts yourself and get a good mechanic. That way future maintenance will be much lesser...

Had mine done several weeks ago.

The cost is quite prohibitive, so my mechanic took to "engineering" workshop to replace the universal joints.

He charged me less than RM200.

So far still so good.

wow~!! it's cheap man...
mind to share which workshop?

Just a feedback from my past experience. My car was moving like snake at mid to high speed - slipping left and right. The problem was resolved after they changed the tie rods. It took sometime before they found this solution.

BS Auto, Pudu Hulu area. Can't remember the address but located here (right at the corner) http://www.streetdirectory.com.my/malaysia/kl/travel/travel_id_472142/travel_site_577752/

This place is operated by an elderly foreman with 2 assistants. Sometimes they can be very busy, so you probably need to leave the car there for a day or two or three. A bit of patience needed but he normally do a very good job at it.

Just to share my recent experiance.

Been facing the same swimming symtom for the past few months.
Went to ADvance MTB, been told to change the tie rod.
But when I shake the tyre at left to right position, not much play.

Then I looks for 2nd alternative, 2 workshop asked me to change tyre.
Coz my tire already almost end of life and not even.

Then this morning managed to change 4 pcs of rubber.
Guess what, my car perform same as new.
No more swimming on uneven road, and steering straight as usual.

Felt very dissappointed with the junior foreman at Advance MTB.
They really lack of diagnosis experiance.

So next timer is your tyre already almost hits the treadware mark,
don't bother to change the tie rod or steering coupling.
Tyre maybe is the real culprit.

Hi Xcrave,
Wish you can let me know which workshop you sent your car in KK for repairing of your free play?

Alex5522,

me too having the same knocking sound problem when come cross the uneven road even after replacing the lower coupling...any other parts that I have to check?

Bro try checked your engine mounting and the front asb.

@hassnur

i have my own Mech... Just buy the parts and he install it for me :)

Most of the things i did myself (with his supervision) Like changing the Tie Rods recently

But if you want it to be done with very good workmanship you can actually go to the Inanam Taipan Big workshops... i think all of the workshop there is used to BMW...

Thanks bro for information on the workshop but can u recommend any one of them?

had mine solved after i changed to a new steering shaft. Im running on a new steering rack and steering shaft. No more free play and definitely no more knocking sound on uneven road. Thank you albert fang..

I had that 'swimming problem' with my car and it took sometime before they discover it was the tierods. So it may not be wrong to change the tierods.
