so basically i no need to bother that button so much. Although it's raining season. I usually drive my car slowly.

Pretty much so...:D

Just another tidbit on DSC, since we are on the subject. On cars like my e90 and e60, the same DSC system also acts as a Flat Tire Monitor (FTM). Basically, the same system that monitors wheel slip, also measures and monitors the rotational speed at each corner. Any discrepancy (flat tire would spin slower) is reported as flat tire or low pressure warning...

yo bro, one more question ah ... hehe

if i using auto gear 3 or 4 can i suddenly change to manual ? The 'D' word become 'S' and if i move the gear then it become gear 1. Is that normal ah ?

thankz.

A shift to the left puts you in the DS (sport mode) i.e. holds gears longer, more aggressive shfts etc. , once you push up or down you will be in M or manual mode. The car shouldn't be shifting down to M1 at from 3rd or 4th gear....

Ok lets say you're driving down the road and you shift to DS mode (most likely 3rd or 4th at medium sane speed)....DS doesn't really change down unless necessary within the algorithm. You shift to '-' to engage M (manual mode) and your display should flash M2. If you had shifted to '+' to engage M (manual mode), your display should flash M4. As far as I know, the step doesn't engage M1, right out of the box like that...besides M1 should only be used briefly at take off or at very tight auto-x corners...

wow..... so much things to learn over here :)
especially..... on e90 as I am also driving an e90 325i, just like u KL2DC :)

Yep...awesome! e90 rules....:D LOL (putting flame suit on)

I see, maybe i'm in gear 2 so when I put '-' then it goed M1. I should drive faster to test.

How's your e90 going. Do you modified anything that maybe can share with us ?. I almost bought one but sorry to say I like the E46 shape better. I put full AC specs with 18' rim, white color. I used as second car. Fuel comsuption reason.

dumeort: it could be, by default the step starts off in 2nd gear...1st gear is only really accessed via manual mode. So lets say youve been playing with the step for some time and you come to a stop at the light, the step would work its way down to M2 by itself without you having to downshift. It only goes as far as M2, never M1 by itself. M1 really is quite low, as mentioned above only for take off and very tight race corner.

Have you found the kick-down point on your gas pedal yet? When you extend your right foot all the way down, you can feel the clicking point that engages kick-down (downshift).

I am a big fan of the e46...and wasn't too warmed over when the e90 was launched. But the more you see the e90, the more it makes sense. I think its the nicest looking sedan of the entire BMW current lineup and also the most classical and conservative looking.

Taking a closer look at e46 vs e90, you can see that the e46 has aged...note: not my pics, not my car

taking it slow on the mods...budgetary reasons. Its my primary car. My signature lists all mods. New wheels to come soon, within the next 1-2 months. Still on the fence on body kits, not a big fan of the ACS full kit on the e90, would probably go with a Hartge lip or similar. The OEM blacklines tailight is one of the best mod an e90 owner can install on his car, really makes the rear end nicer.

David: for you...;) Again, as much as I love the e46, its starting to show its age...

Actually, I do agree the factory rear lights are a bit off, that's why a lot of folks (in the know) are buying up the OEM blacklines...should've been standard from the very beginning, I say...

tat's standard on e90 330i right ?

The last pic of the SG e90? Those are factory accessory Blacklines. The part number is p/n 63 21 0 406 678. You can check with your dealer...its about USD200 here. Its a popular mod for obvious reasons. Generally looks best with the darker colors...

I love the bodykit too :)
Do you have more pics on bodykit or modifications for e90 ??

erm ... dont you think that e46 and e90 posting got abit unfair to compare? E90 seem to be modified the rims and bodykit but e46 seem to be everything original. Let's see both modified car and compare. Just my opinion.

we are all here to help one another...

Well to start you off:

DSC ON - This is the default mode the car resets to each time you start it - There are no warning lights on the dash.
This mode has full functionality, DSC will kick in when it encounters any slip, oversteer, or understeer and use any of the systems necassary to keep you safe and driving where you want to. Obvoiusly, it only works within the laws of physics - it can only help soo much

DTC - This comes from pushing the DTC button once - DTC is shown on the dash.
DTC is a "lose" form of DSC - it allows some slippage for an advanced driver, or if you need to gain traction from slipping the tyres such as in slow. If the system senses the driver had lost complete control, it will kick in.

DSC OFF - this comes from holding the button for a few seconds.
All the stability control systems are off. This mode is not recommended unless you are an experienced driver on a race track.
Oh ...no wonder!!! I turn off the DSC of an E46 330i. But I didnt hold the button. The engine cut offs power when pulled the handbrake.

you da man.....gonna try that soon.
