Does anyone here know why there are two types of people in this world:1. Those who remove the under-engine bay (hood) cover2. Those who keep it on (I hear new E46's came with the cover) I drive a E46 and I'm undecided. Mine didn't come with a cover when I bought it used. I'm leaning toward fitting the cover. Benefits: Minimizes dust from the outside (end up in your headlights, air filter, aircon filter, etc.) Also reduces outside odour (ala biawak mati tepi jalan). Disadvantages (I've been told): heat remains trapped in the engine bay and therefore gaskets / rubber hoses life is shortened. (but surely BMW must have thought of this when the designed the cover!) What's the concensus here?

i always thot they were for aerodynamic purposes?

higher air flow = lower pressure = stick to the ground more?

I'll get it installed tomorrow and share the verdict. Frankly, I haven't seen it myself, but I've been told my two E46 owners that the cover exists, and my mechanic confirmed it over the phone today.
No its not the splash guard.......that's directly behind the front bumper, which I already have. This is cover is another lesser animal........and I shall tame this animal tomorrow at Happy Motors, Jalan Baru.
